m-j Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 and what does that even mean? my best male friend just mentioned to me that his girlfriend is his best friend and he said "you know you will be happy when they are your best mate and lover" and that he would be sad if that wasnt the case with me and my boyfriend.... i dont know if it is the case? i mean, friends and boyfriends are two completely different things. sure, qualities overlap such as loyalty, similar interests and the ability to have fun together....but my boyfriend has his own role as the number one person in my life...and then i have friends. i have heaps of fun with my boyfriend, we support each other, share interests, hang out together and hang out with our friends together - does that make him my best friend and lover? is my friend just being a jerk? probably.
TheLoneSock Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Not to judge you, but you sound young. Maybe I'm wrong and you're not, but what you're talking about is something that most people find with time. You want your significant other to be your best friend. Someone you tell all your secrets to, share all your dreams and fears with. Someone being your friend and lover are not two different things. My parents are best friends, my grandparents are best friends- in fact every good example of a marriage I've ever had in my life, the couple have been best friends. It's not a title they go toating around like 'bff' or some ****, it's just obvious that they are very in love and happy with each other. In fact talking about this makes me kind of miss my ex haha. Damn.
