Sam Spade Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) She lives in Canada though. She might have a little problem if she lived here in the US, where people can be quite...close-minded? I don't know what the right word is. That's the word ! You can't possibly be involved with the sex industry unless you are damaged, miserable, and possibly mentally ill human being, don't you Canadians know that ?!??? Edited October 20, 2009 by Sam Spade
tami-chan Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 There are actually quite a few strippers that fit into all of those categories. Just saying. Really? like a doctor, lawyer, scientist who are also strippers? interesting.
GorillaTheater Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Really? like a doctor, lawyer, scientist who are also strippers? interesting. Law students, at least, IME.
thatguy85 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Yeah I think I could date an ex-stripper. But then again, being naked in public isn't a big deal to me at all.
tinktronik Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Really? like a doctor, lawyer, scientist who are also strippers? interesting. I do know attorneys [and know of] who danced between the time the passed the bar and when they started making good money, and teachers, and nurses and dental hygienists, ect. ect. ect. Let's not even get into women I know who used to dance, since this thread is about after the dancer moves on with their life and into a new career.
sally4sara Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 LOL - I think your nickname says it all!!! We don't need anymore intro. You're not very good at being clear. All my "nickname" implies is that I initially posted on here for someone else and used our mothers' names for the alliteration effect. Around here we call it a username.

sally4sara Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Oh My God. That is too funny. Is there something about my username I'm unaware of?
tinktronik Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Is there something about my username I'm unaware of? I think his assumption was that you were a lesbian. LMAO.
sally4sara Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I think his assumption was that you were a lesbian. LMAO. Ahhhhh hahhahahaa! That IS funny to think of, but I still don't know what would give him that impression.
torranceshipman Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Can't she swap to part time status at college? Or take a year off to earn money and then return to study? Or transfer to another college and live with her folks for the last year? There are quite a lot of options and none of them have to include stripping.
sumdude Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 My ex wife was a stripper for a while at some point in her life. Well we see how the marriage turned out lol. Did it affect her ability to stick with a relationship? Was she maybe more jaded about male/female sexual relationships because of it? I can't say for sure. There are a lot of different styles of clubs. Some are especially 'skanky' and others are pretty high class. Depending on the state you live in total nudity may not be allowed. There the girls dance, patrons are not allowed to touch them and lap dances are not allowed either. I guess it depends on the woman and the situation. If I meet someone who's done it I'll maybe think twice but it's not automatically a dealbreaker.

If she is getting single mother grants, you are only eligible for most if you attend full-time. But on that note, if she has kids and is not married, AND is going for her college education she can apply for grants that will pay for her tuition, books, AND living expenses.
Trialbyfire Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Would you ever be able to date someone that was formerly a stripper. I have a friend who is at the end of her rope and feels she has no where to turn. She has about 9 months left of school, but needs a way to support her kids until she graduates. Shell be in the medical profession so she wont have a problem getting a job. She the sweetest person and very innocent, so shes having trouble making the decision. She's worried that no respectable man would be willing to date her after finding out she stripped for less then a year of her life. Would that make you look at her and run?If your friend can avoid anything that's part of the sex trade industry, I would highly recommend that she do so. It's seedy as hell and there are other jobs a woman can do. But she needs to avoid it for her own sake and not for what anyone else believes. One reason to avoid it, is that she's a role model for her children. If she has any daughters, would she really want her daughter(s) to be involved in this?
Skump Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 She lives in Canada though. She might have a little problem if she lived here in the US, where people can be quite...close-minded? I don't want to be mean about this... but if you think someone's disinclination to date a stripper is simply an indication of being close-minded... open your eyes. Being forced into the position of having to strip to earn money suggests a lot of negative things about a person, even in this economy. Any guy who has a reasonably high estimation of his own value is probably going to pass on such a girl unless he's just looking for someone to screw until Ms. Right comes along. For Pete's sake - consider how many women would reject a potential boyfriend upon discovering that he was working as a garbage collector. And being a garbage collector is a hell of a lot more socially valuable and honorable than being a stripper.
tami-chan Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Law students, at least, IME. I have yet to meet a highly paid law student....

Anyway, I am curious, why do you know so many strippers?

There were of course some train wrecks as well.
