Soul Bear Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 "money for nuthin' and yer chicks fer free" He knew what he was talking about in that song!
sumdude Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 The problem is he still doesn't know what that means. He seems kind of lost without that anchor of playing music in his life. But it hurts too much to go back to it. The only way I can explain it and the reason it's a challenge to be with a musician? We have a relationship with music. Sometimes it's almost a love/hate thing . Sounds like he broke up with music and still holds resentment. Thing is the music is part of you, so in a way he broke up with part of himself. Women, friends and family come and go but the music is always there. I've always been faithful in my relationships with women. I remember having a conversation with a girl and saying that music will always be my mistress. She was shocked.. as if I was unfaithful and couldn't ever put a woman first. Like there is some competition between a woman and music. No way.. it's not like that for me.

I've had a similar situation in my life where I "broke up" with something that I loved. And it's like I can never go back to it without feeling some hurt. It's just sad, because how do you really return to your former self?
