It creates character, and understand of what work is. I'm hardly sheltered. I am sure I've experienced more of real life then you could imagine. Real life is more then having daddy pay for you to go here or there. Real life is more then sitting on your butt playing poker. Real life is working for what you have, and dealing with life as it comes - not buying yourself out to make things easier.

I am an ISSO and can tell you outside of managers and actual physical help desk type people (ones who deal with the non employees directly) do not dress up for work outside of days that they have important meetings. Hell, I work at home most days and work maybe an hour and spend the rest of my time working on the house or spending time with my fiance. And FYI... the computer field is actually filled with mostly non-nerdy people... and calling someone a "nerd" just knocks your perceived immaturity level down a bit more. If you're such a popular cool guy why in the world are you here looking for validation from people you don't even know?

We dated 2 years and lived together 1 of those years. 2.5 years later we talked again and moved in again with one another. Now she wants to not live together nor be together anymore and our lease is up in 2 months. I want female opinions on what you think of me and Im going to be honest. I have an undergrad and finishing up my grad degree (coursework is done except for the thesis so working on it on and off). Ive worked for major companies but either quit or got fired. I dont have the 9 to 5 mentality. I have a business where I am making about 4 k a month right now and I really dont work that hard and she knows this. I play a lot of poker. I take her on trips vegas, cali etc. and rent nice cars and stay in nice hotels, gamble and show her a good time and pay for everything. I am good looking and in great shape. I am confident and c0cky. I drive an 2008 mercedes. I got materialistic stuff (clothes, watches etc.) I got a lot of friends and know people everywhere I go. I take care of her basically. I call her out when she doest stupid **** that any normal human being would find wrong. A lot of people think Im cool as ****. My goal right now is not to sit at a desk it is to become a poker pro as I am skilled enough to do so. Right now with everything I have about 5 k coming in a month so I ahve back up for poker. My goal is to be rich, not when Im 50 but in my 30's. I make more moeny than a lot of people I know. RIght now Im 27. Thats the honest truth. Would you wanna be in a LTR with me? I know you wanted female opinions, but I have some insight you might want. I have a friend that is JUST like you. He isn't much of a poker player though. Anyway- he is young, 23 like me, and has a 9-5 (not even) 60k a year job with no college education needed. He makes good money, has a nice place filled with all the things a young guy could want- the big screen plasmas, all the video games, drives a leased bmw, ect. He's also the type of guy that likes to spend lots of money on his girls, and spoil them. He was recently engaged (within the past year) and his fiance broke it off with him- it crushed him, he couldn't figure out why she wouldn't want to be with him. In his mind he is a great catch, a great provider you know. He is good looking and in shape as well. But he is single more often than he is taken, and when he's not taken, the girl ends up leaving for (seemingly) the same reasons, and he still can't figure out why. I have an opinion as to why, but I can only guess. I see a direct correlation though. Now, and not to float my own boat, but let's put me under the microscope: I too have a steady job. It's only 35k a year, but I'm still in school. My degree is almost finished. I have never been the type to spend lots of money on my girlfriends. Actually the only time I spend considerable money is on special occasions like christmas, anniversary, birthdays. I am a man in uniform, I have a good heart, I help people every day, I put in 24 hour shifts 2-3 days a week, I come from a medium sized family where I am the oldest sibling. My lifetime goals are not to make lots and lots of money, to be a poker champion, to be driving the latest beamer... my goals are of honorable mention, and very unique. Who do you think has had more meaningful relationships out of the two of us? Me. Who do you think will end up the happiest in the end? Probably me (though I want nothing but happiness for him). I think it has to do with who I am as a person, in other words substance. My relationships are not built around money, power and superficiality. Mine are built around genuine attraction, romance, and substance. In other words, with the long haul in mind. Again, not gloating- but I have always compared myself with my friend. And these are the things I have discovered. We are so close of friends yet we are such different people, and it shows. I see a direct correlation. Hope this helps. I just don't get it...you rent pretty much everything and earn a fairly average/low wage anyway, and have no career to speak of, and your girl who is addicted to coke wants to leave you, and you don't even own the place that you guys live in, so I don't really understand what we're all discussing here anyway?! It's not really a success story, is it!! Maybe we can help you improve it all? Seriously dude though,you could do a lot more with yourself that all this...get some real structure to your career plans and drop that girl and find a nicer one! Going back to those years prior to my M. NOPE! I could care less about the money, I am a professional and my career allows me to make your salary or more per month. However, I prefer to invest, budget, and spend more money in areas of vacation and my home. To me, material things mean nothing and are not important, total waste of money. Love a confident man, but not cocky. Who cares if "a lot of people" think your cool, that would not impress me. A woman who wants a man to care for her financially would love you.

But I only put those on for meetings, would much rather be in my jeans, button up, and my twins hat every day. I grew up as a skater so suits every day don't fit me. I thought the monster was 'the nothing' and didn't really have a face.. but it's been a while. I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find a picture of 'the nothing'. It's not much, especially when you add in a bad coke habit. Yeah, I'll take my new home in Denver - there's less snobbery here

Maybe the problem is that she may have decided that living with someone she's not married to isn't her thing. You sound like a neat guy and I think it's great that you don't want to get strapped to the wheel of conformity. You have an entrepreneurial spirit. I also think it's great that you make having money a high priority. Life truly stinks without it since so much revolves around it. Whatever you do, be sure that you don't get yourself in debt, and make sure you save. Otherwise, you'll never be truly rich. Did she tell you why she wanted her own place?
