My bf of 6 months and I have amazingly passionate lovemaking sessions when we get together. Usually we have 3, 45 minute sessions with a half an hour to 45 break between. He often will get there usually once or sometimes twice, and and often holds out to make sure that I'm pleased. He says he gets pleasure from watching me enjoy myself, but on the last 3 occasions, after the first 15 minutes of sex, we both climaxed, and then it was over for him. We chilled for awhile, and we tried to get 'him' to wake up without success. I tried different things, but nothing worked. Also, we had discussed the fact that he has a wheat allergy, and the beer we'd been recently drinking was a wheat ale, so we plan on quitting with that(kinda sad, because we thought it was "our beer" lol).

The very last time, I knew he was extremely tired, and had been up many hours without much sleep and had a few stressors to deal with involving work and family. I'm not worried a great deal, but just a little. Maybe it's me. He claims I'm a lot to handle, and I say that about him. Lol. I hope that I don't have him thinking he has to perform like a super hero every time, and that's what's in the back of his mind because we usually knock each other out. He takes great pride in the way he makes me respond in bed, and I know it's bothering him, so I didn't question him too much. The cool thing, is that we just laid there a long time just kissing, grinding and holding each other( I don't think he was being romantic though, but just trying to get him back up).

Men especially, what do you think? Does this sound as if it may be temporary or the beginning of a pattern? Has this happened to you with a gf? I know time will tell. I mean I'm in it for good. We've talked about getting married, so whatever issue there is, I'm there for him. Please help put my mind at ease...

Perhaps the nature of my question was a little too graphic for this forum. I apologize if I offended anyone.

Maybe the exitement of the newness is wearing off. He's probably explored every part of your body to it's fullest so there isn't anything new to get him up for the 3rd round.

But also with me, I sometimes go through periods where I only want it once a day or every other day & then a few weeks later i'm rearing to go morning noon & night for a couple weeks.

Your BF is in his mid-40s ... This is not uncommon to happen periodically at this age. If it happens frequently then there's probably an issue to see a Doc. about. AND, there are always exceptions, probably some this age and older that can still perform like they did 20+ years ago - - - but for the most part it is probably normal.

My bf turned 40 in April and I'm 44, but I should provide an update:

He's back to his old self with extra sauce. :D I think he figured I had doubts in the back of my mind, even though I didn't express concern, and decided to put my concerns to rest. Wow!!!! Is all I can say.

Thanks guys for your comments. I guess I just should expect there will be days when he's not as 'up' as others, and I shouldn't worry. He hasn't been exercising lately due to an auto accident he was in a few months before he met me, and says that he's not in shape, but when he is look out. (He looks great to me. Gulp! He says he takes creatinine when he's in the gym which as an added bonus, makes him even harder...eh, eh, eh,...if that's true, then I'm in trouble. I told him he doesn't need any extra help.

I had never heard of this before. My ex would put a rubber band at the base to make it harder. I may start a new thread asking men what 'enhancements' men use if anything to stay hard longer.

Isn't this normal sometimes? I mean, if I understood correctly, he can still perform fully but he's just quick sometimes? (you said 15mins?). That's a decent quickie, right?? Seriously...when you're really turned on that happens....

But if you mean he can't actually, erm, finish then yes, could be an issue but given his age and level of tiredness/stress/comfortable stage of the R, I should have thought that it is normal for it to happen now and again...I wouldnt worry just yet...maybe tell him that it is really important to you, now and again, to put his pleasure first and really stress that - then if he really believes this statement you'll get a true indication of whether he is really waiting to please you, or whether he does genuinely have an issue that needs sorting.
