Frustrated!!!!!

In December me and my BF will have been together for 2 years. I am 29 and he is 36. Ever since I have been with him he has been living in his parents basement after about a year I pretty much moved in with him and the parents. He has not shown much interest in going foward and stuff that I push for and he just goes along with it. He has rules for our relationship. He need to be with someone for four years in order to get engaged and another 2 years for an engagement. When I ask him what made you come up with that he said. I have never had a relationship longer than 4 years and my cousin was engaged for 2 years so thats how long it takes. He has now recently lost his job about a month ago. I would never leave him because he lost his job but he doesn't even care that he is unemployed.

We do love each other and the relationship is good but I have been really frustrated because we cant even get a place together and it seems as if he doesn't care.

How is it remotely possible for the two of you to get married, have your own life, home, maybe family....if you are living in his parents basement. I mean, wanting to get married is one thing...but to even consider that it has to be a realistic option.

I think your BF is onto something there.

I often wonder if I had waited an extra yr to marry instead of allowing my finacee' to push for just 1 yr engagement if i'd be broke & getting a divorce now.

you my friend married the wrong girl. The point is I am looking to have children and I dont want to wait 5 years to do it. I don't think it would have mattered how long you waited either way she would have cheated but in that case you could have just broken up rather then getting a div. I wonder why she even married you of she was just going to two time you.
