ConfusedSoul Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Ugh My husband knows I can't do alot of house work due to my illness I ask him to do 4simple things to help me out 1.kitty litter 2.take the trash out 3.help me fold the clothes 4.and unload the dish washer. I don't think that is to much to ask at all,he is soo oooooo lazy. I tried sitting down talking nice to him,he saids okay ill try harder. But he doesnt even make an attempt! I'm just sick of it,having a dirty house I cant do it all by myself by the end of the day I'm dead.
mfrmboy Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Can you afford to have someone come in and help a couple of days a week. I payed a girl 20.00 a week to come in and do house keeping for me. Just vaccuuming, dishes, dusting etc. You could rebel and stop doing for him. Dont wash his clothes or cook his meals dont clean up after him. Mabye this will give him a wake up.l He's a grown man and he should be able to understand that you cant do it all. Tell him that if he does'nt help that you are gonna haft to hire a maid see how he likes that. Good Luck
moonspinner Posted November 30, 2003 Posted November 30, 2003 Hire a someone to come in for an hour a day to help you. Tell your husband that is what you are going to do to solve the problem at this time. Who knows, maybe he won't want to pay someone else or can't afford to pay an outsider to do some simple chores and may actually do them himself?! .......crowd applauds... Sorry he is so inconsiderate of you..Sounds like there is a lot more going on in your relationship than a dirty kitty litter box. Get well soon and good luck.
Author ConfusedSoul Posted November 30, 2003 Author Posted November 30, 2003 I'm sure suggesting a maid would change his tune. That is really all the problem I am having. The fustration at the end of the day. Espcially when he asks me what did I do all day. grr
moimeme Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Gee, BadMan. I hope I marry a man just like you some day.

Arabess Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 I had children in hopes of getting some decent "house help".....THAT plan sure came back to bite me in the A$$ though! Some guys are good at helping around the house....some aren't. There ARE a few chores men don't like...and you've pretty much listed them. 1.kitty litter 2.take the trash out 3.help me fold the clothes 4.and unload the dish washer. 1. Men don't DO kitty litter. 2. Taking out the trash reminds them of having to do chores as a boy. 3. Folding isn't a high point either. They wad stuff up and try to pile it in a silly stack. 4. Unloading a dishwasher is like cleaning out a car trunk. If you take it out....you gotta find another place to put it. Why don't you ask him which chores he would be more comfortable with and do some swapping with him. Like cooking....most guys love to cook and are good at it. They don't seem to mind vacuuming. They are also good at getting groceries. Find a compromise.
VivianLee Posted December 6, 2003 Posted December 6, 2003 Arabess hit the proverbial nail on the head...guys just don't do that stuff....especially not willingly....the only thing I ask to have done around here is to have the trash bin taken to the road (it's too heavy for me)....I go ahead and write notes and say it about 7,000 times and still 9 times out of 10 he forgets!! There must be something in the male brain that blocks waves to doing such things that have been mentioned.... Now my husband loves, I mean LOVES to wash clothes....the thing is, he ruins ours (my daughter and my clothes) because he doesn't watch the water temp and dries them to hell and back!! All 3 of us are tall (I'm the shrimp at 5'9) and we have to be careful about shrinkage....personally, I really wished he loved doing dishes, kitty litter and trash....I could live without his love for washing clothes..... Good luck!! I hope you get help and get better!!

You have a point Even if that is the chores they don't like to do,that is to bad,he knows I can't take the trash out its to heavy for me to lift, folding the clothes helps out alot since I do the ironing and the washing. And unloading the dishwasher he MUST do because I can't stand like that long and keep bending over. And as for the kitty litter, like it or not that is the list of chores we decided he would do. So he either does what he is supost to do. Or I'm hiring a maid which he is going to pay for. Oh,and as for cooking he makes a BIG mess so its more trouble then what its worth.
Faerie Princess Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Please don't put people in a box because of their gender. Men and women all can do anything. Included changing the cat litter. Bending to that mentality really doesn't help.
