I have been working at the bagel place for afew months now. But, ever since I have started to dishes, I have been dealing with a horrible rash on my arms on the underneath part. Now, it is not my upper arms it is the lower part. And I am thinking it could be because the soap at work, but not sure. This problem seems to be getting worse and I have no health insurance to go to the doctors. It could be exama. That is what my mom says it looks like. Started appling cortaid on it to stop itching or at least reduce it and reduce the redness. But, this rash is very old. I don' tknow if it is because I have been scratching it or what, but there are all dry patches on my arms. And I have never had this problem ever before, so I don't know exactly what it is. But it is driving me crazy. It is no where else on my bod so it could be because of the dish water soap being used.

Sounds like it could be an allergic reaction. However, there is no possible way in the universe it can be (or should it be) diagnosed on this forum. If you can't afford a doctor, go to a drug store and show the rash to the pharmacist who may recommend some over-the-counter rememdy. If that doesn't do it, report this matter to your workplace. Maybe their workmen's comp insurance will cover it. If all else fails, find a free clinic or health department in your area. Don't let this go on forever.

Are you still washing dishes??

At least show your employer and have them not have you wash the dishes to start with.

I would definetly recommend that you see a dermotologist asap. And if you can't afford that, then take Tony's advice and try to talk to a pharmacist and see what over the counter meds/lotions he would suggest for you.

And you do need to show your workplace your skin condition asap as well. It could be something contagious, or a health hazard to your fellow employees or customers where you work. So you might need protective gear while washing dishes.
