MissJoness Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Some older guy told me that I looked like a "married woman". This really depressed me. I hate how I look. I want to look really really young, like a teenager. I remember this same guy telling this other girl that she looked liek she just graduated from high school. I wish people would say this about me more often. I hate when people refer to me as a "woman" and not a "girl" or address me as "ma'am" It makes me feel old and like I am not youthful
Lucky_One Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 How odd. When I looked that young, I wanted to look older. I was tired of being thought of as a girl. Weird.
Lucky_One Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 PS The girls around here who are college aged and look really young are the ones who wear short-ish shorts with rubber rain boots. They look young mainly because they look really, really stupid. Have you tried the rain boot look yet?
Citizen Erased Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I am 22, barely look it and I was mistaken for the wife of my 38...39? year old colleague. Guess I look like I could be married too. You are really far too sensitive. Are you even 30 yet?
loveslife Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Citizen Erased, she's about 24 and this is her 5,367th thread about feeling too old to get a guy. It's really sad.

Lucky_One Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Or Uggs! Wear a sundress with no bra, and pair it with a tall pair of furry, fuzzy, ugly Uggs. And pearls. Nothing says fun in the summertime than a pair of furlined boots! SNAP!
mr.dream merchant Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 I'm 20 and I look about 18 because I lack facial hair. Everything else is there though...for a 20 year old I guess?

Yeah, but when a guy says you look married it means you don't look lively and full of youth. That's how I take it
sumdude Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 No, I'm not 30 yet. Yeah, but when a guy says you look married it means you don't look lively and full of youth. That's how I take it It's your attitude and how you carry yourself. If you think you're old you will act and look that way. Stop worrying so much, put a smile on your face have fun, be fun and youth will shine from you.
frustr8ed Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 You don't have really big hair do you? Big hair will always age a woman. For what ever reason the older some women get the bigger their hair gets, it's almost like counting the rings on a tree stump to see how old the tree was. So ladies if you want to keep youthful and young NO BIG HAIR! ...and stay away from weird hair dyes like burgandy and weird old lady blue (trademarking that color before crayola does.)

But I have great legs even if I am short. I can rock it.
westernxer Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Perhaps he meant this as a compliment? If he said you looked like a married woman with children, that's when you should start to worry. LOL
Hop_prophet Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 and I wish I had a million dollars... come on. Maybe its your severe narcissism that is turning guys off. Well there is always plastic surgery.
Jersey Shortie Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 It's sad when grown women don't want to look like grown women. We do live in a media youth obessed culture but when women don't want to look like women and when men aren't as attracted to grown women, as we have seen certain cases of this here and there on the board, we have to realize that thare are alot of messed up things out there.

Jersey, have you read "Unbearable Weight" by Bordo?
clv0116 Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Citizen Erased, she's about 24 and this is her 5,367th thread about feeling too old to get a guy. It's really sad. It's her Nth thread about not getting a guy in his early 20s. I think that might not be completely inaccurate. Statistically she has the best chances at her age with someone 2-5 years older, which would hardly put her beau in the retirement home. OP, have you considered dating guys from say 27-32?
northstar1 Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 No, I never heard of it. You may enjoy it. IMO , a better read than the Beauty Myth.
Trialbyfire Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 An unhealthy fear of anything, isn't the most healthy way to progress in life. EVERYONE ages to a reasonable degree. Just take care of your body by keeping it healthy and it will take care of you.
Jersey Shortie Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 You may enjoy it. IMO , a better read than the Beauty Myth. I am always left with the impression that you are mocking me. I read the Beauty Myth actually and while some of it has good points, there was alot that I disagreed with in it.
boogieboy Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 No, I'm not 30 yet. Yeah, but when a guy says you look married it means you don't look lively and full of youth. That's how I take it Dont worry Miss Joness, when you turn 30 you will ONLY look like youre 40. (Prepares for the cavalry attack)
gopher Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Ugh...Thanks JS for turning an issue about what the OP feels about herself, into a thread about how men are to blame. On topic, alot of people will say, don't feel that way, or you're only in your 20's. But I remember my best friend (a guy) when he was 25, saying he hated getting older. Now at 52, he laughs about that. So, whatever the reason... Nostalgia for your youth... Laugh lines..or tiny wrinkles.. Or even all Men making you feel that way... Try and give yourself a break from self assessment...stay in the moment and live your life. Of course, you're getting older, but you're still maturing, getting smarter and more attractive to most men...Even more likely, you're a better person than you were at 18 or 20. JMO
