Not only do they spread devastation within their social and family circles, they also stand to be publically exposed (oh noes, worse yet).

Ensign was a combat fighter pilot. If you go through the history of legislators who were fighter pilots they are a mixed and very interesting bunch. Their ranks include B-1 Bob Doorman. Twelve kids and a faithful husband of 50 years wore his heart on his sleeve... and was so far to the right he made Reagan seem timid and liberal. And Duke Cunningham, CMH winner, (Congressional Medal of Honor) and convicted and jailed for taking bribes. Fighter pilots = Ultra A personalities. Which... is polite code for ... (pssst.) sociopaths. The Few, The Proud, The Brave.... and usually the slightly Crazy. But don't they have to be? Strapped to a Roman candle 1 on 1 against other enemy flyers as crazy as they are?

He was magnetic in personality, bat shyte crazy but A LOT of fun!! I never trusted that he didn't have a girl in every port, even though he claimed otherwise. Sure buddy! IMO, high risk personality types can be one indication of a cheater's mentality. They're adrenaline junkies.

TBF is right, it a Fighter Pilot, thing. Most successful combat officers, NCO's are "different". It takes a certain set of personality traits to risk you life and the lives of others.
