OK, so I've noticed that my bf's ex-gf's bf looks like my bf. His ex-gf before that one is engaged to a guy who resembles my bf.

My ex-bf's fiance looks like me!

So much so that it's a little freaky. As in, seriously, if you saw them from a distance, or a picture of them, you'd have to look twice to make sure it wasn't me or my bf.

Obviously two of his ex's and my ex have a "type."

So I'm curious:

1. How many of you have a "type" -based SOLELY on physical appearance, NOT personality traits?

2. What is your type?

3. Why do you think some people have "types" and some people don't?

For example, anyone looking at pictures of every bf I've ever had would never be able to make this kind of statement about me and having a type.

I'd like to believe that I have an ideal type of girl; tall, thin, dark hair, dark eyes. However my dating history has been all over the place I guess because I'm attracted to so many different types. I think some people have a certain type because they have an idealized view of their perfect match and aren't willing to stray. I really don't know and would be interested in what others think.

Just because of your post John, I do want to clarify that I AM NOT referring to or asking about "an IDEAL type."

I am only interested in hearing about types that people actually date! Not an ideal partner that only exists in your mind!!

Yes, I do have a type. In looking back at my serious relationships, they've all been of a particular type. Dating history wise, not as specific.

But part of that type, has much to do with internals, as well as externals.

I've only dated white technical artist guys with black hair from Illinois, which is strange because I've been born and raised in California.

Maybe I should branch out a bit.

Hey, you remind me of me. My serious exes all had dark hair and all were white collar "caucasians" by definition.

I put up my old avvy, that reminded me of yours. :)

1) I thought I had a type (and I did) till I met my current boyfriend who defied what I had looked for in a boyfriend before.

2) I think the type I look for is someone who is funny and intelligent. If a guy has those two things going for him then he can at least get his foot in the door. Oh yeah and being taller than me, even if it's just 1/4 of an inch (as my current boyfriend is).

3) I think everyone has a type in some way shape or form. It's just that some people's are more stricter and rigid in the description than others.

EDIT: Just about all my exes crushes/boyfriends were white guys with dark brown hair for some reason. Don't know why, but that's how they all were with a few exceptions.

I'm really trying to talk about physical characteristics here, no personality characteristics!! :)

Tits. Ass. Legs. Face. Substance. Not overweight.

1. I do have a type that I find physically attractive.

2. Thin dark hair (from light brown to blackish brown), non-blue somewhat bedroom-ish eyes, non-tanned skin, a certain symmetrical facial structure (hard to explain), and a calm, articulate voice.

3. My preferred type has been changed by a few different factors. However, when the features I addressed above produce a certain combination, it generates sexual attraction. It happens quite rarely so I tend to take it as a good sign even though I am aware of that a relationship takes so much more than that.

One side note though: if the man's intelligence does not meet my requirements, it erases every possible attraction I might have felt.

2. What is your type?

blonde, around 5'6", size 4 to 8, nice legs and feet.

Posted

The whole two relationships I've been in  the first was slim, very fit and strong, about 5'10", blonde hair, pretty face. The second is skinny, about the same height, brown hair, cute.

I doubt there is much of a type in there although both of them are white and slim...but I've been attracted to others that don't fit in that.

Posted

I used to think I heavily preferred lanky, light haired guys, but now, though there are undoubtedly broad characteristics I prefer, I'm not so sure.

Posted

My exes in the past were of the short skinny types. And as the occurrence goes, those tend to be the types that are attracted to me. As for me, I like tall girls with dark hair that are close to my height.

Posted

I do have a type or two that I can say I prefer, but my dating history shows otherwise. The girls that I have had successful relations with have never come close to fitting what I would've described as my "type". So, while I may think I have a type, in truth, I don't.

Honestly, this is how I feel also. If someone asked me what I'm physically attracted to, in my head I think I have a "type" that I would describe.

But if one looks at my dating history, I don't at all have a 'type.'

I think it's very interesting, people that do have a type. I mean, I'm not exaggerating in the least when I say that anyone looking at pictures of my ex with his fiance, or my bf's ex's with their bf's, people might mistake us at first glance.

I find this incredibly intriguing.

Most women's type summarized: 6' or taller, toned to muscular body build (this is where woman's type vary), long, symmetrical angular caucasian face, brown to black hair, strong eye brows, and there's probably more.

Most men's type: thin, long hair, pretty face.

So I'm curious:

1. How many of you have a "type" -based SOLELY on physical appearance, NOT personality traits?

I have wout a doubt a type

2. What is your type?

I am not racist by any means...let me put the disclaimer out there...not to mention my dad is very dark skinned...you couldn't tell by looking at me though lol

anyhow it must be porcelain skin I love white boys...blue eyes are a must but i will settle for green or gray...lol...and height 6 and over please...my BF is 6'1 I'm 5'3ish and I love it I love to be on my tippy toes and kiss and to feel his arms around me there is something about tall men i can't resist...toned and lean...no muscle man please haha just toned I think that covers it for me

3. Why do you think some people have "types" and some people don't?

I have a type I know exactly what I like and what I don't and I'm not ashamed of saying it...i also now that I can always get what I want...every man I've always wanted I got...at least so far...and that also gives me added confidence in that field...

some don't have types or claim not too but I'm sure deep down they have their preferences too...there are also people that have had a very difficult time getting the guy they want and settle because they feel they are not capable of it... I have also noticed and this is strictly based on my girls but in my circle I have noticed that those w a lower sex drive tend to not have much of a type.

I am a highly sexual person and I need to be physically attracted to it all...it adds to my fun in bed and that passion..

and before some throw rocks at me and call me superficial which has happened in the past...I do care about the insides just as much...but this thread is strictly about physical and I'm giving my input accordingly

No type....

Hmm, that sounds desperate ;)

BTW, many who've seen pix of my stbx and myself comment how much we look alike (in the face). Pure happenstance, I assure you :)

You sound like you have an inferiority complex. But anyway, we will never understand women. I do prefer my own race (as I feel that yes, whites are the most beautiful) for a variety of cultural, etc reasons, personally however I think it's ridiculous to say you only date people of a certain eye color. I won't even get into the height thing.:lmao:

Women are insane :lmao: I find that most women unlike men, never budge for their "Type". Is there any place in the USA where all women aren't like this???

I don't understand your need to judge me and and implying I have an inferior complex and insane for simply contributing to the thread and sticking to the topic and answering the 3 questions asked...

that is what my type is and there is nothing wrong with that...i know what I like and what i want...and yes blue eyes are it for me...can't get enough of them...they make me melt...nothing wrong with that...and height well to me its sexy and a turn on...and that's ok too because its about me and my preferences

you don't have to agree w me...just show a lil respect...

Yes I have a type.. really.. I should say I have 2 types..

I like the tall.. 5'11-6'2, dark hair, fit (not skinny).. even a bit chunkier is OK.

and I also like the stocky type.. dark hair..

They have to be rugged (a little rough around the edges).. very manly.. I don't care for baby faces..

My dating history, including the not as serious relationships, LTR or STRs, were quite diverse, albeit they were all men who lived a healthy lifestyle. There were more non-physical similarities, than physical similarities.
