Fay Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I've been thinking, and I think the magic number for relationships is 5. The MINIMUMS are: 5 total hours of date-time until kissing. 5 dates until sexual acts and exclusivity. (I'm with A_C on that they should go hand in hand.) 5 weeks until L-bombs. 5 months until moving in together. 5 seasons until marriage proposal. Again, these are minimums. But all rules are meant to be broken, as I will personally attest to. My longest relationship (5 years) stemmed from sleeping with the guy on the first date, something I would never do now. Opinions?
TaraMaiden Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 5 total hours of date-time until kissing. 20 minutes. 5 dates until sexual acts and exclusivity. (I'm with A_C on that they should go hand in hand.) 2 days later 5 weeks until L-bombs. as above 5 months until moving in together 2 weeks 5 seasons until marriage proposal. 3 months - although it's been 5 years, and I'm in no hurry. Don't see the point myself.....
loveslife Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 If that works for you, go for it. I'm a little more spontaneous. I don't like to plan things like kisses and love.
brevifolia Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I think 5 weeks before dropping the "L-Bomb" was a little premature in most relationships [i've been in]. That said, this time 'round it was 3 weeks so I have to agree with loveslife that you can't really timetable stuff like that. Also, 5 hours before you start smooching seems like a long - and waste of - time if you're really into them. In my current relationship our timeline is something like: 1 hour, 6 hours, 3 weeks, 8 weeks... watch this space!

Well I don't like to time things but I do have minimums for things and they go as follows: 1 date until first kiss 1 week before exclusivity and sexual acts 2 months before exchanging the wonderful L word 6 months before moving in together 1 year before discussing marriage
stace79 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I can't imagine I'd have any remote clue as to whether I loved someone prior to six months. And honestly I don't think I really understood the depth of "I love you" until I lived with my fiance! As for everything else, if I really enjoy a date and I like a guy, I will kiss him the first night. Maybe not nasty, wet sloppy kisses, but a kiss nonetheless. Everything else seems mostly agreeable.
