Monster Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 That's been my experience anyway. I am not fat. I am healthy and fit. And that's because I exercise moderately (3 times per week), eat healthy foods, and do not overeat. I'm tired of certain fat folks accusing me of being anorexic and picking on my very healthy dietary habits. I'm tired of hearing about how lucky I am to be naturally thin. I am not naturally thin. I can balloon up nicely if I eat like a pig and sit on my arse all day. Sure, there are some people who do have very high metabolisms, but most people who are fit and healthy work at it. I am also tired of my tax dollars being spent on the obese who drive up health care costs with their knee problems, feet problems, diabetes, heart problems, cholesterol problems, and on and on and on. Anyway, if you're not happy with your health and fitness level, then get off you arse and do something about it. But don't hate on people are fit and healthy. Monster
sb129 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Well, this thread is probably going to get nasty. Interesting though I was reading a thread on another forum this morning about being overweight and getting/ being pregnant. Many of the women talking on that thread seemed to think that weighing from 80-100kg POST pregnancy (175-200+lbs) wasn't "too bad" and one woman stated that her BMI was "only" 32 post-pregnancy, which she didn't think was so bad. 32???? Its in the obese range! Seems alot of people are deluded as to what weight they think is healthy or not.
Dooda Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I agree. I really don't like the idea of fat people reasoning with themselves, saying they are naturally overweight. That isn't true. You're not naturally overweight if you eat pizzas all day long and have no idea how to eat properly. It's not natural to be 300 pounds. The worst part is is that this society is conforming to the new fat people fad. We're supposed to feel bad for fat people being fat. It's like this new societal obligation. Fat people are seen as a new 'type' of people: the big people. It's really bad, when this society can't distinguish between what is love for the self and what is truly destructive for the self. We're all concerned about respecting people's feelings: it's like, "that's so rude to make fun of fat people." "I'm sorry, but I think it's even ruder to have to take up almost two seats in a bus and then act insulted when people give you weary looks." I feel bad for the sick, the poor and the disabled. I don't feel bad for fat people. Don't worry. You don't need to feel bad about being 'skinny', cause you're not. It's only fat people being jealous.

Monster I am tired of, like you say, tax dollars being spent for health care.. when obese people do F*CK ALL about their condition.. I also am tired of smokers who also use our tax dollars for health care.. I wonder WHEN the doctors will simply STOP providing care for these society 'parasites'.. Look in the gyms... the jogging/biking trails... do you see fat people.. nooooooo... they sitting in front of the screen.. stuffing their faces.. Can you tell that I have absolutely NO sympathy for fat people.. Fat = Lazy in most cases..
sb129 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Well smokers would argue that they are "pre-paying" for their health requirements because of the heavy government taxes on cigarettes. No such tax on junk food, although people have been talking about it for ages.. guess it would be very hard to implement.
carhill Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Let's just kill all the non-perfect people and get it over with. Where do I sign up?
Lizzie60 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Well smokers would argue that they are "pre-paying" for their health requirements because of the heavy government taxes on cigarettes. No such tax on junk food, although people have been talking about it for ages.. guess it would be very hard to implement. Well most smokers I know are buying their cigarettes on the black market to avoid paying big money... No smokers should NOT be allowed health care for the time they smoke... simple as that..
Dooda Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Lol, nice support Carhill. We'll add you in. And I would have to say that smokers pay more than their fair share when it comes to health care because of the heavy taxes applied to cigarettes.
Dooda Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Now this thread is gonna turn into the 'smoking' thread.
Lizzie60 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Let's just kill all the non-perfect people and get it over with. Where do I sign up? No..no... you got it wrong.. we're not talking about non-perfect people... we're talking about people who are abusing the system because they just can't control themselves.. and are NOT taking care of themselves... it's very different..
sb129 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I don't really care what people do to themselves- and tax dollars get spent on all sorts of ridiculous things, as well as good things, so you are never going to be able to completely control that. Its just interesting as to what people perceive as "overweight" or not, and I was reading something just this morning that suggested that many overweight people don't actually think they are.
sb129 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 For record- non smoker and non obese person here.
Trialbyfire Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 And what about those people who by weight, aren't obese but plow their way through loads of junk food? I guess that ever single person who's had a heart attack, be it from junk food or sodium intake, should all be removed from health care. What about all those people who drink? I mean seriously, they shouldn't be allowed to have medical care either. Let's not forget motor vehicle accidents. If people wouldn't cause accidents, our auto insurance would be so much lower. Why don't we just allow everyone to die of whatever disease or medical condition they have? If you think about people who do dangerous sports or aren't careful crossing the street, they asked for it. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
carhill Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Abuse is a form of non-perfection, no? Why stop at obesity and smoking? Hey, I'll take one for the Gipper. I mean, put my spleen where my mouth is, imperfect and all....
allina Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I was thinking of skipping my run this afternoon, I think I'll go after all
Dooda Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Trialbyfire, that doesn't justify fat people abusing health care. And I haven't yet to see someone who ploughs his way through junk food and can remain skinny. It's just that fat people somehow think their eating habits are normal and not out of the ordinary. Eating a bag of chips every once in a while is OK, but eating 6 bags everyday isn't.
sb129 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 And the OP still hasn't contributed since starting the thread. Ho hum.
carhill Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 OK, seriously now.... How much government do you want? Do you really want have a human being deciding which medical issue gets treated and which doesn't, dependent on a person's personal habits, like eating too much and smoking? I think the government's up my ass way too much as it is already, and it's giving me hemorrhoids. I'll weigh in as an overweight, lifelong non-smoker who hasn't had a non-elective medical bill in decades. In fact, I was uninsured for over 20 years. Overweight means I'm 5'11" and 220, same as I was in high school, but with much less muscle at 50. Maybe all that non-muscle gives me compassion, IDK
UrKillinMeSmalls Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 It's all about not wanting responsibility. It's always genetics, God, the American food industry, their depression... whatever. It's always some ONE or some THING else that's deciding for them and making them fat. People don't want to accept responsibility, because it means they would have to change their lifestyle- and they don't want to do that. The show "The Biggest Loser" is a perfect example. Not only does it illuminate the problem with people right now, but it shows what people are capable of when they put in the hard work and time that is required to change their situation. If this were the 1950's, this epidemic would never be acceptable. It's a different world now.
Trialbyfire Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Think of all those seniors, who suck up the cost of health insurance. Imagine how cheap health care would be, if we just let them all die of natural causes. More sarcasm...
Thaddeus Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Last time I had the unfortunate situation of waiting in a hospital emergency room, there were a small cluster of people sitting around me. One was a mom with her child who had obviously fallen while playing and hit his head on something. Another one was a jogger who blew out her knee and couldn't walk. A third was a recreation-league hockey player who had caught a puck in the forehead. And one fellow had been kicked by a horse (yea, no shat!) and his shoulder was broken. The common thread? All were there - including me - because they had been doing "healthy, active" stuff! I think I'll sit on the couch and watch a movie tonight whilst eating a bowl of ice cream. It's safer than being active.
Tayla Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Trial, on a side note- Love your sarcasm! For with it comes an element of truth that ignorant folks conform too...Thus why I find it comical. Carhill- Glad to see a sensible and reasonable comment. You both did well with curbing the otherwise uproar this topic could have had.
carhill Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I think I'll sit on the couch and watch a movie tonight whilst eating a bowl of ice cream. It's safer than being active. Don't forget the whiskey, man; it sterilizes things. I like my body clean, inside and out. It also helps when working with live electrical wires
Trialbyfire Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Tayla, restrictive medicare is difficult to stomach, especially when attached to personal bias. No one lives perfectly and even if you try, you're going to hurt yourself or contract some form of disease, that if you'd lived in a bubble and never went out, it would be your fault for exposing yourself to whatever it is or whatever happened. It's true it's annoying when reverse PC, is used to bludgeon thin individuals. But fat phobia, especially when it talks about restricting medical care to individuals, when guaranteed, the individual doing the talking won't lead a 100% perfect life, for their entire lives (past and present), lacks serious compassion and is probably steeped in hypocrisy.
carhill Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Just think of all the wonderful human beings we'd deny jobs and financial security if we were all perfectly healthy
