ok Today I was job searching and I noticed I had a email from my supervisor at the job I was laid off from a month ago saying to call her at my earliest conveince. So I called her and she asked me did I find a job yet and I said no and then she said ok because we are looking to bring people back and I will have an answer for you no later than monday.

Now what she doesn't know is I have an anxiety disorder and will be driving myself crazy waiting for a answer between now and monday. I mean why didn't she wait to call me until things were FINAL?? Do you think it's a matter of what day I will be coming back which is what the next call will be about??

I was told it was a chance I will be brought back but I was thinking once I heard from her that it was confirmed I was coming back. Now it just seems like things are "UP IN THE AIR" or is it??

My best guess is that there's a good chance you'll be brought back on but it's not set in stone; they probably have a few things to determine/finalize on their end.

Don't know what to tell you about the AD, though I might suggest plenty of time at the gym to work off the stress.

They probably laid 20 people off and are bringing back 12(or something similiar), just keep searching. So they are seeing who is still in the market.

Well I usually only get stressed over stuff I can't control-lol So now I will be thinking about this the rest of the evening or weekend and hoping I get called back. But I was thinking, would she have really contacted me if I wasn't going to be one of the people brought back? I mean I refuse to believe she would have wasted her breath along with mine to talk to me about returning if it wasn't going to actually happen. I'm thinking that's why the first thing she asked was-"Did you find a job yet?

No, I agree, I think you probably have a good shot. But I wouldn't count it as a sure thing until you get the call back. Like Bueng said, keep looking. Who knows, you might find something better in the meantime.

But see the problem is by me being laid off after just 90 days due to funds, it showed on my resume that I only worked at a job for 3 months. So I defintely want to return because I would like to expand my time there so I won't have to put a job on my resume that I was only employed with for 90 days

Eh, you were laid off due to economic circumstances, not your fault. And these days, you're far from alone. Just make it clear in your resume what the circumstances were.

But in any case, good luck with the call back, Philly.

I would assume she is calling everyone who was laid off to see wha their status is (ie hired or not) and will do a downselect process to hit the number she needs to bring back.

I agree with the above poster who said keep looking. It's just another job lead, that's all. Be pleasant, be upbeat and positive, and keep your ear to the ground for any and all opportunities.

good luck!

She did give me a letter of recommendation so that was something I had to cover up the short time period. I guess I just like seeing a year length for any job since I was even a telemarkter for a year-lol But we will see what happens tomorrow.........or MONDAY

Well, even if you're hired back, I wouldn't put on your future resume that you were employed there continuously... that wouldn't be truthful.

As for your current status, a RIF due to economic reasons is VERY common right now, and most employers are very understanding about that sort of thing. You can indicate the reason you're not employed in your cover letters as well, to explain the short period of employment.

So if I returned and started in October and was still there in October of 2010 I shouldn;t put I was employed from May 2009 to October 2010 since I was only gone for 4 weeks? Or should put October 2009 to October 2010?

As a manager and someone who's working at a company who is also in the process of bringing some of the people back that we had to lay off, I can tell you that it's probably not etched in stone that you'll be back, but you are a primary consideration. That's a very big compliment to you.

From your former bosses position, she must present information to her boss / bosses. She must first find out what the options actually are - who's available to come back, and the people or person she's recommending that they bring back first, and why. Once it's discussed between everyone, then a decision will be made. They're making the decision very quickly, actually, and that's good. There's a very good chance that you'll go back but it's not certain. You'll probably be on pins and needles over the weekend so try to plan to do as much as possible to keep yourself busy. Good luck! Let us know what happens.

The only problem I have is that she told me to call her in the email she sent me. What she sid to me on the phone is what she could have said in the email since nothing was final. So when I saw she wanted me to call her I was like--"I'm back" And only to find out I have to wait on another call-lol I know she had to find out my status but that could have been answered in email. Fingers crossed

Well after tossing and turning all night long and only sleeping a total of 3 hours, I woke up and saw I had 1 new call and a voicemail message. It was my supervisor telling me to call and once we spoke she asked me would I be able to start on Oct 5th and I said Yes and then she told me a letter will be coming from HR sometime next week and I wilk keep my same salary.

Best News to get on a Friday and I'm so grateful. Now I can stop shaking or get some aniexty medication.-lol

Congrats! Hahaa, they knew you were just too damn hot to go to waste!

I called my company in August, after another firm came to the rescue and took over, but they weren't looking to hire back anymore people (only re-hired 4). So, good for you. :D
