Ok i applied for a receptionist position. I got an email back climing they needed my full name, resume, and phone number. All of which i sent to them in my resume. They now are asking me to fill out a credit report online. This company is trying to get my credit card information claiming that it wont be charged but they need a credit card to validate my account. This sounds kinda scamish to me. I mean i know places do credit checks but online? Through email where any yahoo and his mama could have access to your information.

I want this job but i dont want to give out personal life changing information to anyone. I know freecreditreport.com is a legit business BUT its not them im worried about it is the employer. I dont know them from adam. I mean im sorry but id rather be jobless than have ruined credit. They wont even reveal their company name or phone number. I suppose to keep from getting calls. Would it be ok if i asked for more information from them?

AGAIN before any rude people come in (they will anyway prolly and i will hit that ignore button at light speed i am in NO MOOD for it today today) I KNOW THAT LOTS OF COMPANIES CHECK CREDIT. I dont have anything to fear bc i have none lol other than student loans lol. My thing is I want to know who this employer is before i allow free credit report to give out my information. I hope this makes sense..you can never be too careful a lot of scumbags in the universer:lmao:.

I don't know much about it - but they're asking for your credit card information? That doesn't sound right to me, at all. I would definitely email them, get a name and phone number, and call them, at the very least.

Mmm... it all sounds too fishy to me. I have never been asked for my credit card info. from any employer that i know - did they say why?

smells like a scam.

Freecreditreport.com is for you to get your credit report online not for a prospective employer to pull your credit..

They want you to use your free credit report that you get each year for their job applicant...hahaha

Don't give them your credit card info.. they have no right whatsever to pull your credit in that fashion,

NO employer should ever ask you for that kind of personal info..

Sure.. they can pull a report with your name, b-date and ss # but not any of your card numbers..

If you do this then you open yourself up for theft of your credit..

Let them go out and buy a credit report the way an employer is supposed to do.

and then if you wanted to get the report for free yourself later on in the year you wouldn't be able to as you only get one report per year for free..

also..they would have to represent to freecreditreport.com that they are you in order to do this.. that isn't legal.. I think

sounds too fishy! :(

The company I work for also serves the U.S. government, and for one of the employees to be on the project, they go through some background check. But I have never been asked for my credit card information... even from the government!
