ReturnToSender I have that same problem too! My one ex b/f would say specific things and even though its four years later and I haven't talked ot him in three years, I still sometimes catch myself saying certain phrases he use to say. I try to catch myself before it leaves my mouth cause I think: "oh god! seriously!? that phrase!? damn my ex!" lmao

Well, it's not always subconscious. Players and PUAs do this deliberately.

This is one of the creepiest things I've read in a long time.

Mirroring is taught as a technique in many professions, as well. It's not just an advanced dating technique. LOL

Ok, I can see that, but when it comes to a dating context, faking mirroring, is just *shudders*

Oh, I agree. I'd never be able to be that calculated when I really like somebody. It smacks of manipulation and being emotionally uninvolved to be able to be THAT into your head that you can sit and focus on what move to make next.

That's an interesting topic in itself.

When does being self aware and doing the smart thing cross into being manipulative.

For example if a woman acts like she wants to tie a guy down on the first date into a serious relationship, that is enough to scare the man off. So a woman needs to play smart even if she wants a serious relationship with the man.

How about not being so damn desperate as a woman that she NEEDS a relationship so bad that she'll take it with some guy she's on a first date with?

haha I know, I was just using an extreme example.

It's the borderline cases that would be interesting, what is considered as manipulative, and what is considered as playing smart.

Even the angles you're facing each other as you sit have an effect.

Can you elaborate?
