Ok so I have a dilemma. I have a first date with a cute guy who I know from way back and I'm hoping there may be a kiss involved later tonight.

However, I have a problem. Now I know the sick people amongst you will find this absolutely hilarious (god knows all my girlfriends/family have!!), but I have a one-tooth denture in top front, and just know that if tongues get involved then he's gonna have to know.

What do I do?!!!!

How the hell do you broach a subject like this, bearing in mind I'm trying to be sexy, not like my grandad.

advice most appreciated - anyone who's giggling at this point, shame on you!:D

Tongues on the first date? Wow. :D

Well...how did you lose the tooth? You mean a bridge, right? If I had one, I'd rather call it a bridge than a "denture." Denture does sound like something your grandpa would call it. But if the "losing it" story is any good, you could open with that. LOL Where, exactly is the bridge? Towards the front or back?

I guess if the story is stupid, you could always slip it into convo casually, I guess. Don't make a big deal out of it, but definitely don't call it a denture.

Well, I'm not planning on a whole makeout sesh but just in case - see this guy was my bf for 3 months when I was 16 and we went out a couple of times seven years ago but have kind of stayed in touch. I think I'm working up into panic mode to be honest (first date in seven years). This thing is actually a full-on denture - a tooth on a plate. I'm guessing that if a tongue enters the mouth area then it'll feel the plate as it sticks out - eek!

This is horrendous - I mean I've done the whole ooh what shall I wear, how shall I do my makeup exciting bit, now all I'm left with is this ha ha - not what I envisioned!

How about temporary tooth? Ha ha, this will be the funniest date I've ever been on!

Wear some leg braces like Forest Gump had when he was a kid and a pair of those crutches that strap to your elbows and have arm handles on them. He wont even notice the denture.

Or just tell him "meth is a bitch on the teeth" to lighten the mood.

Once again:

and:

It would help to know the answers to these to know how to put it. But with you guys having a history together, I don't imagine it would be THAT big a deal to just tell him. Hopefully there'll be a little bit of conversation before he shoves his tongue in your mouth.

Hey SoulSearcher - I'm sorry that was rude of me - I lost the tooth in a fight with an ex involving a mug - we were very passionate people! However suggestions as to wild and amazing stories are always welcome!

The falsie is a top front so there's no tucking it away and hoping for the best.

Well anyway, I can tell all about the date now - I prepared well, trying this new powder stuff to stick the said denture in good, and I don't think he actually noticed. The night progressed well with much laughter and debating. I got through dinner without losing it, and then at the end of the night we did indeed kiss woohoo! You'll be pleased to know it did not drop out at an inopportune moment, and I don't think he actually noticed although the several glasses of cider/vodka may have actually smoothed the path ahead.

Oh and I'd just like to say a big ha ha to frustr8ed's post - man you really made me laugh!!

HAHA...nothing wrong with the "real" story. Don't you ever talk about past relationships with people? Make it this big elaborate story about how it happened and end it with the mug hitting you and you losing the tooth.

Glad the 1st date went well. ;)
