Author vanilla87 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 These are the points in the article that I completely agree with. Its from experience with dating, friends, family, complete strangers, and just noticing things from afar with guys. 3. Different From Conception From early in infancy, girl brains are more interested in smiling, communicating, people and security; while boy brains are more interested in objects, actions and competition. With higher levels of testosterone, the male areas of the brain are more developed, including the parietal lobes responsible for sense of direction, visualizing objects in three dimensions (good for catching a football), and mathematics. Without testosterone, the language centers of the brain are more developed, which is why girls like to talk and boys like to play catch. In addition, testosterone beefs up the area of the brain that is interested in sex. This ares is twice as large in men as women. He really is more interested in sex. This true because as a woman when your growing up, the bonding period when making friends in grade school was about communicating, smiling, laughing, being social and playing girly games, and having the security of friends. Guys on the other hand bonded by sports or action type stuff like G.I. Joe action figures or skate boards or guitars. Thats why at young ages guys are more into sports or video games long before girls would be, unless she has a little more testosterone in her system when she was born, then she might be more into some things like guys. Thats why some girls end up growing up as tomboys, because they have a very very tiny bit extra testosterone in her system then the other females. 4. Thinking Neuropsychologist Ruben Gur of the University of Pennsylvania used brain scans to show that when a man's brain is in a resting state, at least 70 percent of his brain is shut down. On the other hand, when women were resting, at least 90 percent of their brain was active, confirming that women are always thinking, thinking, thinking. The man wants the remote control and a little peace and quiet; she wants to talk. Its true. I've stayed up late, even exhausted just talking to friends. Then with guys I've tried and my friends have tried too, but guys just zone out if they are tired or exhausted. Women on the other hand can keep going till they end up talking till their eyes shut. Thats why were up late thinking about so much. Thats why your mom was the one up late half the time if she was the worrying type when you were a lot younger. Basically thats why if you wake up a guy first in the morning he isn't too aware of anything yet, but a woman is very aware, even in her sleepy state because the brain is so active. 6. Sex On The Brain The part of the brain responsive to sex hormones is two and a half times larger in men than women. Men are programmed to be more responsive to sexual feelings. Plus, with the lower activity in the brain, men are looking for excitement and stimulation. What is more stimulating to think about than sex? If anyone disagrees with this, especially any guys on this thread then your not a typical male. I'm sorry but to be honest, every guy I've met in my life is thinking about sex 24/7. No joke. Half the convos are mind in the gutter stuff or things in relation to sex some how. They check out women daily, watch porn, get off, and think about sleeping with certain women. So yeah guys are very primal creatures as humans. If they weren't when it comes to sex the human races would have died off thousands of years ago... 7. Why Don't Men Need Foreplay Like Women Do? Men are always ready for excitement. With the lower activity levels in our brain, and higher testosterone levels, it takes little to get us going. Like Harrison Ford's character Quinn Harris said in the movie Six Days, Seven Nights, "All women have to do is show up." We are always idling, waiting to be taken for a ride. Women, on the other hand, have so much going on in their brains that they need to be soothed, courted and encouraged to be in the mood. They need a method to calm down their brains. Oh this is such an easy one for me to comment on: they don't have a clitoris. Its the main section on the area of a woman that is her main center of stimulation for getting aroused when having sex. If that is not stimulated 80-85% of women never reach orgasm. With guys, they just have to look at a woman that is physically stimulating and BOING! they get turned on. Its about the brain chemistry in men that is connected to their nervous system that makes it so easy for them to get a boner asap. And its true most think about everything while they are about to, during, and after sex. Thats why its important for men to try and be the seductive one and romantic in a sense. It helps us forgot about whatever is on our minds and we can focus on getting busy if thats what you want. Its that simple guys. 8. Sir, Are You Lost? Men do not know that they are lost, even if they have passed the same gas station four times. Men have less access to the right hemisphere, which shows the big picture. The right hemisphere allows people to know when a problem exists. Since men have less access, they are often in the dark when something is wrong. It happens in many other situations besides driving, such as admitting that there is trouble in a relationship (75 percent of the time women are the ones who file for divorce or leave a relationship). Men are also singularly focused on finding their way. Admitting that you are lost is admitting failure, something men are very poor at doing. Oh don't even get me started lmao. Every guy I know doesn't want help when they get lost. Any guy that says they don't is lying their a** off right now. The thing is that men have a lot of pride in showing that they have a good sense of direction especially in front of women. When they get baffled about where they are and can't get to where they need to be, they are not going to give up, even if they end up waiting till its dark to finally go to a motel for the night. Thats why most guys end up being in denial, especially on LS about a relationship that is failing. See women are highly in tune with their surroundings and we pick up on things very easy, which is how we end up realizing if something needs to end, even if we can't end it, the fact still reminds we are always aware of everything. And its true, women will file for divorce or split from a man more then the opposite of that. Thats cause we know if things will get ugly we can walk away before it gets chaotic. Women don't mind admitting if they fail and are more likely to say "Sorry". So ladies don't worry its not your fault if a guy is lost, he just don't like the idea of being a failure in front of the woman he is with. 10. Do Men Lie More Than Women? Given the lower brain function, especially in the front part of the brain, men tend to be more impulsive than women. They tend to have more affairs and tend to say things without fully thinking it through and often find themselves in hot water. Women also lie, but they get caught less. One reason, as I mentioned earlier, is that women have better access to the right hemisphere and thus read social cues better than men. They notice the small things, like looking away or down or clearing your throat, that are typical in people who are not telling the truth. Since men tend to be in denial a lot of the time, they do not see when their partner is lying. ahahaha so true! Everyone lies, but guys are really top notch. I mean seriously go look at the cheating forum section of LS it proves this more then ever! Anyway, Men are horrible at lying unless they are clinically diagnosis with narcissism or he is a pathological lier. And guys will more then women be impulsive. Thats why they drive fast cars, gamble, sky dive, get crazy tattoos, and anything else that sends a rush of adrenaline through their body. And its true, more so the fact that if you pay close attention its easy to tell when a guy lies. Those little clue they put in the article are dead on for reading body language. Guys more so will cover their mouth, play with their ear, rub their chin, scratch above or on their eyebrow or the side of the forehead by the eyebrow, and lastly they will look you straight in the eye, dead on to use as a tactic to convince you of their lie. Only the really good ones use that last tactic for lying. And its true, women are better at lying. Why do you think fake orgasms was so easily invented? Just take a look at When Harry Met Sally, she was proving one heck of a point. 11. Why Can't He Remember Our Anniversary? Men are men. As such they are thinking about providing for their families, competing with other men and sex. Opposed to women, who are thinking, thinking, thinking about the relationship, men are busy doing. This does not mean they love less, they just love like men. This often causes them to forget important dates, even though they try hard not to. This is very true because we do think about every aspect of a relationship or anything thats highly important in our lives. Men just focus on the ways to prove for their family or how to get a good position at work that comes with a better salary or how to save money so you can spend the money n buying the pipe instead of using it to get a professional plumber. Its things like that which show a HUGE difference in thinking with men and women. Its has been researched and scientifically proven that women can multitask and men really can't. Thats why guys are move likely to crash a car if he texts or answers a call. While a women will find ways to make sure she doesn't a guy will just answer and not think about what he is doing (impulsive behavior).
BCCA Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Vanilla, Im guessing you wouldnt like it if I made a laundry list of lame generalizations about women would you? ALL of that stuff is crap, and like I said, you wouldnt like me to make a similar list about women. Its has been researched and scientifically proven that women can multitask and men really can't. Thats why guys are move likely to crash a car if he texts or answers a call. And someone was just killed while texting here in SF...it was a woman.

ALL of that stuff is crap, and like I said, you wouldnt like me to make a similar list about women. Okay then prove it. BUT it has to be research that is stating true facts about women vs. men. You can't go on about what you with out enough evidence of personal experience unless you have proven facts that are done in a facility where they test these theories out. And if your not up to it, just humor not only myself, but to all the women that are either reading this thread or have responded to this thread too. You might be surprised where the conversation on this topic will turn... I like a good challenge such as this, makes for a very interesting discussion for topics such as the one thats being made here. I'm curious to see what you'll come up with when you've posted it for the world to read...

Thornton Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 I don't think it's a matter of equality leading women to seek being like a man. If women didn't enjoy some stereotypically thought-to-be male activities, they wouldn't do them. Period. With more rights and equality, women now get to enjoy the same freedoms that men have enjoyed for alot longer. Women enjoy sex, they enjoy working, they like sports they sometimes even enjoy changing their own tire and can still be feminine. I love how society has managed to convince women that they want to go out to work! Work is boring, it sucks, it's miserable, and those women who can afford not to work are incredibly lucky. In the past most women could avoid working, but nowadays most of them have to work whether they want to or not. And I wouldn't particularly want to change my own tire either - you would have to be crazy to consider that to be an enjoyable thing! As for how women should go about seeking equality, well that's the whole point. Alot of men don't respect the things women are good at. Most men don't really want true equality. They want to be kind of their domains. SO unless there really is a shift in thinking about the role women have, from both men and women, women are going to keep fighiting and competeing the best way they know how. Living in a world that is driven by men, and in a world that no longer is as protective of the role women once had, has left women a bit on their own fighting their own way. There aren't as many men around wanting to fight for them anymore, while we still do have men that clearly want to be masterse of their domain. Now this I agree with. Women are trying to compete in a man's world, which to me isn't what equality should be about. At the same time, women's traditional roles are disappearing and they no longer have such a defined role in society.
kizik Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 BCCA, don't waste your breath. Or your fingertips, I should say.

GENDER DIFFERENCES IN MULTITASKING http://clearinghouse.missouriwestern.edu/manuscripts/815.php
northstar1 Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 The researcher concluded there was no significant differences. Not a very good example.
The Collector Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 GENDER DIFFERENCES IN MULTITASKING http://clearinghouse.missouriwestern.edu/manuscripts/815.php From that link - There are people (e.g., Meyers, 2003) opposed to the idea of women being better multitaskers. However, they do not make a case for men being superior with multitasking abilities. Instead, they claim that there is no significant difference between the genders with multitasking. According to Dr. David Meyer (2003) the genders are fairly even in their multitasking abilities. He says that, “The two sexes typically come out about the same, on average” (Shellenbarger). Dr. Marcel Just, Director of the Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging at Carnegie Mellon University agrees with Meyer. His studies on brain mapping, with participants between the ages of 18 and 32, show that women only score higher when asked to listen to two things at the same time (Just, 2001). In every other cognitive tasks pairing, there are no statistical differences. His conclusion is that men and women are equally productive with multitasking (Mahany, 2005). So that's at least two studies that disagree with the one you are posting, hardly a scientific consensus, and if anything the evidence is against it.
BCCA Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 GENDER DIFFERENCES IN MULTITASKING http://clearinghouse.missouriwestern.edu/manuscripts/815.php In regards to production, although the females (134.7) did have a mean score that was slightly higher than that of the males (132.7), there was no significant difference. Did you read it?
Paragon Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 This is a great article to use an example of "scientific" literature that gives HALF-truths... Science and it's findings become greatly distorted when reported by pop society.
Author vanilla87 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 In regards to production, although the females (134.7) did have a mean score that was slightly higher than that of the males (132.7), there was no significant difference. Did you read it? OMG Its just one article! lmao there are hundreds of different ones out there about multitasking and how it affects men and women alike. Stop trying to prove me wrong with this and try and prove me wrong with the list you decided to claim would be "hurtful" to women because of this article that was posted in a woman's POV. I'm literally tired today (been up since 8am and @ classes since 2pm) and don't have time for this repeated bull because if it was at all worth debating about I wouldn't be complaining first off and second I would be trying to make a good and valid point to it. This actually makes me WANT to do my homework and study Not in the mood for people who don't want to argue in a fair manner....
The Collector Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Wow, and the article said it was men that have a hard time admitting they were wrong and apologizing...
Tayla Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I do get the GIST of the original Post. It carries some truths. The difference in being an ADULT is realizing that not everything you read is true, yet there is truth in everything. Its to what level you comprehend. In fairness as a previous poster stated- Women really don't want to work and those who do she questions the reason in such. Umm gee- reckon because as a human (female) I have the priviledge to apply myself in a field that does wonders for science and medical discoveries? Maybe I don't want to be a KEPT women or be seen as a person dependent on others. But that is beside the realities of things. Sadly some women really want the princess life..... Here guys are some FACTS: Women are more apt to ask for alimony , men are more apt to not ask for it. Women are more apt to seek child custody and be awarded it even though MEN are just as capable of being a parent and provider. Women on average will place their *temporary career* on hold for the good of the man. ( Now who isnt using there brain here?) I am definitely not a fan of the THEORY of Tomboys. Now that is a very unfounded statement. The article still never did answer why Guys leave the toilet seat up when ladies are in the house? As Kevin Meanie would say "What were you thinking you booty man!"
BCCA Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 OMG Its just one article! lmao there are hundreds of different ones out there about multitasking and how it affects men and women alike. You posted an article to support your statement that there was scientific proof that men cant really multitask, while women can, and you post one that does NOT say anything you claimed, and YOURE upset? Wow... Stop trying to prove me wrong with this and try and prove me wrong with the list you decided to claim would be "hurtful" to women because of this article that was posted in a woman's POV. Why do I want to insult women everywhere because you are wrong? I'm literally tired today (been up since 8am and @ classes since 2pm) and don't have time for this repeated bull because if it was at all worth debating about I wouldn't be complaining first off and second I would be trying to make a good and valid point to it. Really? Since 8am, and thats early? I was at work by 7:30, awake before that. Can I pout when I have no proof for any of the ridiculous claims I made? This actually makes me WANT to do my homework and study Well, next time you should before posting an article as proof that does not provide said proof. I cant believe youre getting upset over this, this is 100% YOUR fault. Not in the mood for people who don't want to argue in a fair manner.... Fair as in using reason and common sense? Wow, and the article said it was men that have a hard time admitting they were wrong and apologizing... Exactly...
BCCA Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 The article still never did answer why Guys leave the toilet seat up when ladies are in the house? Why are you leaving it down when there are guys in the house? Hypocritical, no?
