Do you women ever friend zone a guy on/after the first date?

If so, what triggers it, and how can you tell!?

Yes

Lack of chemistry. You can tell because when you try to make flirty advances, she rebuffs you.

For me, if there's no attraction or chemistry during the initial 15 minutes, then I probably would not make the effort to make a second date.

I will be polite and friendly and usually end the date with a goodbye hug as opposed to a kiss.

Basically...'she's just not that into you' sums it up...she isn't attracted to you, and there is nothing you can do about that. I think 'friendzone' is quite misleading as it a) suggests that she wants you as a friend instead of a romantic partner for some reason, when in actuality she might have no interest in being friends whatsoever and b) the phrase seems to be thrown around as some kind of dating tool, i.e. saying or doing something uncool, leading to 'friendzoning', as if there is a magical thing you can do to somehow get out of the friend zone. There isn't...If a girl doesn't feel chemistry and isn't attracted to you in a romantic/physical way, there's generally nothing you can do but move on.
