Author shadowplay Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 It depends on the style of bikini and also what her torso looks like. I can't tell by looking at the clip, what her torso looks like, under that hideous outfit. People should dress to suit their body type and overall look. I know you're not really saying, this but I just hate the attitude that women over the age of thirty should cover up their bodies. If somebody's let themselves go, that's one thing. But if you have a nice, toned body, you should be able to flaunt it, regardless of age (within some limitations lol).
Trialbyfire Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Who says? And why? She has already put herself in the public eye- and she is obviously cool with her own personal standards.I say and I have the right to criticize her lack of style, since she's put herself into the public eye. Within your post, you expressed that people should leave her alone. I happen to disagree, which is my right.
carhill Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 A much better look for her!! I'd opine early forties. That would have been my first thought, but my biographical data places her in her mid-thirties, based on relevant information about her dance history and education.
sb129 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Meant to say who says she has to "polish her look"? According to whom? Its when we place our OWN personal standards on others that criticism takes place, and thats when people get insecure. I personally wouldn't wear my OWN hair like that, but if she wants to wear hers, good for her. As I said, shes braver than I am.
donnamaybe Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Who says? And why? She has already put herself in the public eye- and she is obviously cool with her own personal standards. THANK YOU! I mean, who's the stupid one? The gal who lets some magazine dictate her "look of the moment?" What if this year short hair is in, and six months from now Cosmo tells you you're outdated if you don't have long hair?

This not only covers older women but both men and women of any age.
sb129 Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I say and I have the right to criticize her lack of style, since she's put herself into the public eye. Sure you do. But her "lack of style" is only your opinion. So she doesn't "have" to do anything.

Trialbyfire Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Sure you do. But her "lack of style" is only your opinion. So she doesn't "have" to do anything. And how do you feel I or any other person criticizing her, would have any impact on her self-esteem, as claimed in your original post? I'll criticize her if I feel like it, just like you and I can argue about this, all day long.

Author shadowplay Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 Hey, she's my age and you wouldn't catch me dead in her outfit or hairstyle! But you probably wouldn't hesitate to wear an equally skimpy outfit at the beach, right? Her outfit is basically a swimsuit (leotard) with an ugly sweater on top, so I don't see how that's more risque than her wearing a regular swimsuit to the beach. In terms of style, it is bad.
carhill Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Another picture Further data might push her to late thirties, but I doubt any older...

I bet she wouldn't give a monkeys- it was you saying she "has" to change her whatever that made me laugh- she doesn't "have" to do anything, shes already out there. As for arguing all day, I have to go and put myself in that public eye called "work", so maybe another time.
Author shadowplay Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 Another picture Further data might push her to late thirties, but I doubt any older... If I had to take a guess I'd say between 38 and 41.

Author shadowplay Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 In general, I resent the idea of age appropriate clothing if it means that older women have to cover up. A woman shouldn't feel shame about showing her body, as long as she's being tasteful and legal. . Not all older women are wrinkly and overweight. If a woman is 40 and has a hot body, why is it wrong for her to show it? If it makes a few people uncomfortable, so what?
Star Gazer Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I'm actually shocked that you're complimenting her, rather than picking her apart. Such a refreshing change for you! She doesn't even have a trace of cellulite. I hate to burst your bubble, but that's what dance tights do for ya. She's got them on, so does Beyonce in the video.
carhill Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 If I had to take a guess I'd say between 38 and 41. Interesting how the more pictures I find (beyond what I've shared), the younger she starts to look
Trialbyfire Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 If you look at the link I provided, it's a very body conscious outfit, in that it's quite tight and would suit her body type, since she looks toned. In trying to dress in a younger and tres ugly style, she makes herself look like a dated cougar.
Star Gazer Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I'd get rid of her outfit which looks like a dancer out of Flashdance and some elizabethan lord, had mated and had ugly progeny. That ridiculous boufant has got to go and so does the rest of her eighties SAHM hairstyle. Her makeup should be more natural looking, since she's got that girl next door face. Maybe, just maaaaaaaaybe, get this: She's trying to look like Beyonce in the "Single Ladies" video, seeing as she's telling you how to recreate it? Just a thought.
carhill Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 This is the wonderous difference between men and women. I don't even notice clothes. I notice her body language and expressions. I notice the health of her skin; her facial features. That said, good on ya for the fashion lesson. That really makes sense. TBH, I have to get to know a woman before I can dress her
Author shadowplay Posted September 14, 2009 Author Posted September 14, 2009 Interesting how the more pictures I find (beyond what I've shared), the younger she starts to look maybe those pictures are from a few years ago? I was basing my guess off the video.
