Hello,

This question is for the ladies. What's the deal with heels?

Why do some women wear 3" heels everyday to work and why some women

always wear flats? Do women know that men think high heels are hot? Is that why they wear them? To catch a guys eye? Or is a high heels for the woman to feel good about themselves? What do you ladies think of the height of heels and what it says a woman is trying to say by wearing them?

Or is there nothing at all to them.....

Thanks in Advance,

Heels:

  1. Elongates your legs.
  2. Causes your calves to look more cut.
  3. Look hot.
  4. Makes certain outfits.
  5. Creates a T&A stance.
  6. Are fun to play with.
  7. It's a shoe and women love shoes!

Any other questions? ;)

Hahaha! Great topic.

So, I don't really wear heels as I am 5'9" and feel like I'm going to topple over if I do.

Most women I know who consistently wear them say that they make them feel more feminine, lengthens their legs, makes their legs look better, etc. Now, the only reason I would wear them is if I am trying to look "sexy" for someone. I'm still hesitant, though, as I do tend to lose my balance--I'm klutzy anyway, so wearing heels just makes matters worse.

Hahaha, hopefully they guy I'm trying to impress thinks klutzy girls are hot, else I should probably just wear flats...:lmao:

Think TBF has it covered!

Another thing, if you're into it: the book The Naked Ape covers it a little as well - when women wear heels, it 'accentuates locomotion'. ;)

See? Hot.

Being all of 5' tall, I like.

Great Answer! So what you're saying is - it's to look sexy and be hot and attractive! Do married women wear them as much as single chicks?

I mean...is it a way to attract hits?

Sounds good. GF tried on a pair on snake skin 3.5" heels and said I would wear heels like this everyday if I had an office job. ****Heels they were..

You ladies may wear them for yourselves, but guys put women who wear them in the trashy category. Does that thought hold true? Does she know whats she putting out there? Makes me think she's putting the flag up for more attention and more options... My intuition doesn't like it.

I want to marry this woman, but don't want a walking attention whore as a wife.

I haven't noticed a difference between attached women wearing them vs. single women.

In my view, no. It's just to look good generally. :) It feels nice to feel like you have your look together, whatever that means to each person.

I can't even think of any time I ever dressed, thinking to myself, "This will get plenty of male attention. Woohoo!"

I have, however, put something on, remembering that one of my female friends complimented me on it. So I think TBF is right there.

Straight up FreeAgent, I don't give a rats arse what men think when I wear the clothing or shoes I wear. I dress the way I want, the way that suits me and is appropriate within the environment it's intended for. In all honesty, it's not often you meet a man knows how to dress a woman.

If you're going to judge your intended by calling her trashy or an attention whore, if I were her, I would drop you like a rock. ;)

Good lord, you sound like an ex-bf of mine who thought I was an attention whore slut who needed attention and was going to cheat on him because I wore kitten heel shoes that showed "toe cleavage."

****me heels appropriate for medical facility? Guess you answered THAT question... :D I look at it this way.... if she's going out looking for maximum attention and using me as a help with the bills fool for now, I'd like to know.

I am making a Benjamin Franklin list and checking it twice. It is what it is

Thanx for the answer. Seriously dont know whats up with the shoes.

If a guy wears a tank top to show off his pipes you can bet it's to show the ladies his pipes and not get a compliment from his guy freinds... or maybe, depending if...

This is an interesting twist to a thread that asks why women like heels. If they like to wear high heels, they're sluts and attention whores who want to use your money. I get it...

I'm curious why men think everything is about them. Trust us all when we say wearing heels has pretty much nothing to do with you people :p

There ya go..... And the ladies dont wear em for looks.:p

TBF's list pretty much covers it.

I'd add that there's a bit more variety in high-heeled shoes.

And I might be weird, but I wear heels most of the time because completely flat shoes hurt my feet, and if I walk around long enough in them, I get considerable lower back pain. I also have very high arches, so wearing heels is actually more comfortable most of the time, unless I opt for flat shoes with a fill-in or built-in arch support. Some of my heels are so well-built that I could probably run a race in them.

Great List....

Bottom Line is - You're Trying to be Sexy, otherwise you wouldn't wear them.

I have a killer pair of black lace up heels that I wear when I go out - and I wear them simply because I love the way I feel when I'm wearing them. They put me right at the 6 foot mark, and I feel fierce as hell wearing them. Is it to attract sex? Nah. I don't need shoes for that. :)

I guess it would be like a guy who drives a really hot sports car and likes the way he feels behind the wheel rather than just having it as a 'chick magnet'.

Some people adorn for others, some for themselves. I guess it depends on the person.

I would be the opposite of the above post. I'm 5'9" and don't feel like I need any more height than I already have. I have plenty of balance, so I could wear them if I had to, but personally I prefer flats or sneakers. Partly for practical reasons because of where I work (chemistry and biology labs), and partly because of the fact that I spend most of my day on my feet or walking. I suppose it depends on how your feet are built and on what your feet are used to.

I own one pair of black 3" heels and the only reason I bought them is because they made salsa dancing easier. It is a lot easier to dance salsa and/or swing on your toes if you are wearing a good pair of heels that puts you on the balls of your feet with heel support, than if you are wearing tennis shoes or flats.

Most of my shoes have heels, whether it's stiletto, more practical in that they're lower or more sturdy, wedge, etc. They're fun and I love them. Some are even eff me heels! :bunny:

there is actually a yearly marathon where women run in high heels, or is that men? i can't remember

I wear high heels because I'm vain. I want to look good and high heels make me look taller and slimmer, my legs look longer, my breasts and bottom stick out and I generally look sexier. I'm not necessarily planning to attract guys (although that's an added advantage if I'm interested in that sort of thing), mostly I'm just vain and I want to look good. I usually save the high heels for a night out or a special occasion though, because I don't find them very comfortable to wear. Most of the time I'll wear flat shoes, or maybe shoes with a small heel which still make me look good but which aren't skyscraper-high and uncomfortable.
