How to go about healing oneself?

So in the breaking up section was talking to some girl about commitmentphobes. There are two types, active commitmentphobes (AC)are usually guys and are people that have an irrational fear of getting married.

 

Passive commitmentphobes are people that are attracted to these men, and in other words fear commitment in a passive way. A lot of PCs come from broken families, etc.

 

Anyway, the point is the book which actually describes all these conditions offer no real solution. All it says is leave the men with AC, but a lot of PC simply find no attraction or chemistry to normal guys. So they will keep gravitating back to jerks.

 

I find this happens a lot. Some girls will always gravitate back to jerks, for some reason they have no chemistry for normal guys.

 

Anyone read anything anywhere that solves this problem?
