redlove Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I was wondering whether anyone would help me out with this one since I have never done this in my entire life! So, I was at the store today to buy a new laptop with my techy mother. I asked one of the guys to tell me a bit more about a particular brand. Now, since I have this tendency to be very focused when I'm looking for something, I tend to be oblivious to anything around me. Off we go (gorgeous looking guy with a very nice smile), so he can tell me a bit more about 2 different brands. He starts tossing in some very bad jokes, but they made me laugh because they were pretty original (it struck me as odd though and out of place). He admitted in the end that his jokes were pretty bad, but I responded with "They were quite original. :)" So then he offered to help a bit more and he walked me to one of the guys to help us purchase the laptop. The whole time he kept standing there and looking at me. He said something like "You need a new computer and now you have one" and I was like "I have a computer but it's dying a slow but painful death. And it's my last year of university so I thought I could use a new one" and he goes "Oh you're in your last year? What are you studying?" and I'm like "Yes. I'm studying _____" and he goes "Oh, that's like medicine type of thing, right? Where do you go? _________ (name of university in my city)?" and I say "Yes it is. And no. _________ (name of other university in the same city. I know. It's a bad university but I couldn't get out before realizing what a mess it is. :o" And he smiles. Then he goes "And after?" and I go "Grad school. I haven't decided where" and he goes "We have plenty of universities around. You have tons of choice." He smiles again. Then he pulls out a computer and some other guy joins us, so he was showing off the new windows to the guy and me. The guy leaves and he goes "Here. Play with my laptop. :)" and I'm like "Better not. I'll crash it." He smiles. Anyway, it kept going back and forth like that until we left the store - he kept going with his jokes, then I teased him about the laptop, then he teased me... Now, I don't know what the hell happened - I'm clueless, but this whole thing seemed a bit odd to me. Usually those guys help people and then once that is done, they don't stick around - go and help others. However, he was VERY good looking and I appreciate his jokes - it was brave to pick on my mother (LOL). I'm in store tomorrow, picking up the laptop with all of its system requirements and I was wondering something: Would it be too pathetic/odd if I gave this guy my number? Like, I know I probably won't see him again, so I thought of giving him my number. If you're working in a store, according to their policies and guidelines (if I'm not mistaken), you're not allowed to give out your number (?) - so he won't even be able to give me his, even if he wanted to. So, how do I go about doing this in a discrete manner? I don't know whether he's single or not or anything about him (just tiny bits) and I have never done anything like this - so any pointers? I don't want to sound/look desperate, because I'm not. Any guidance would be appreciated.
boogieboy Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 No one really enforces or follows the store policies on dating. If someone wants someone else, they exchange info no problem. SO you can chance it and ask him if he would want to hang out, then work to the number.
