LOL, I've spent the whole day in my hotel suite watching the US Open and loving it. Went shopping late last night when I arrived into town and stocked the refer and cupboard and am loving the alone time. I had some great flying mates yesterday and made some great memories. Met some nice single and married ladies. Life's what you make of it. Get out there. It's a blink of an eye and then you're dead. Don't dawdle :)

You have choice too. Your choosing to be blind to the fact that you have choices. By the way I left my apartment for the first time all weekend.... now its your turn. Enjoy this sunday... its like a saturday but better because no school or work tommorow for alot of people

I left my apartment yesterday but stayed home today. It's been really nice.

I don't think OP knows he has choice. Because, for him, leaving the apartment requires plans with other earthlings.

Little does he know that in order to meet those earthlings he needs to leave the apartment.

What irony!

I stayed home all day today. And napped. But I get to go to work in a few hours. I have no plans for tomorrow, and I'm just fine with that. I'm looking forward to thde downtime.

Mileage run to VA..... Nice way to spend Labor Day weekend. My new cat went AWOL a couple days ago and I was missing him pretty bad so getting away helped.

I tend to want a purpose when I leave home and mindless random socializing isn't one of those purposes. I don't mind socializing along with the purpose. As an example, on my next to last flight, from Washington DC to Charlotte, I manipulated the seating so a nice, patient elderly lady could have a row all to herself and I ended up next to an elderly gentleman who just returned from a cruise in England and we swapped cruise stories and a bit of history and had a great time. Even the FA joined in for a bit, since FA's generally like to travel. All strangers.

Tomorrow I hop into the car, set the GPS for a destination I'll figure out tonight and see what the road brings my way. There's a nice beach boardwalk in Virginia Beach, I hear :)

Please do not even joke about being like George Sodini. We have loser men stating that all over this board, comparing themselves and warning us about being a future George Sodini. NOT funny.

Those are my absolute favorite types of trips!

I have so much fun sometimes. Earlier this summer I just looked at a map one week and decided to go away that weekend to someplace I hadn't been before. Very little prep. Went by myself and had a blast!

Need to do another one soon.

Sorry to hear about your cat. :(

Yeah, these guys need a reality check. That guy was far beyond 'hitting a new low' by staying at home one weekend.

Oddly, I can feel his frustration and pain, but not his anger. I've long pitied the women who rush by in their zeal to get to whatever their supposed nirvana is, and, when younger, some anger, but never would align myself even remotely with such psychotic behaviors. That guy was disconnected from reality, IMO.

IME, the more one spends time alone and socially isolated, the more likely one will develop socially aberrant behaviors. If nothing else, that's good reason to be proactive in pursuing some social relevance in our culture, even if on the perimeter. When younger, volunteering helped me mitigate those feelings of social isolation.

Hope the OP figures it out... :)

Sorry to hear about your cat.

Thanks for that.

Hope springs eternal but I fear the critters got him. No road kill when I left, but my property fronts about a 1/2 mile of road. I have no luck with male cats; this one was about as much of a lap cat as any I've had. The males always have been eaten or get splattered on the road. It's just hard to keep a cat inside all the time.

OP, good thought. Having a pet makes for better 'alone' time, as well as releasing endorphins in the bonding process. I couldn't believe the sense of loss when I realized he was gone. That told me one important thing: that I'm healthy. I can feel loss and care about it. Great information for someone going through a divorce.
