SoulSearch_CO Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Dreamer, I just want to give you props for putting up with all the **** you've put up with in this thread with perfect grace. Keep doing what you doing, girl. IMO, people have to do what makes them happy. Everybody is going to have their own code of ethics for conduct and I respect that. As long as you are true to yourself, honest with others, and happy with your choices, you deserve respect.
boldjack Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Dreamer, though we disagree on your method, I have never questioned your basic honesty, nor your moral values. I also understand what you are trying to do, and wish you all of the best. Besides I really think you are too cute.
MindoverMatter Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Casual dating is my modus operandi, in most cases anyway. So I know that there is nothing morally wrong with doing it and there is absolutely no need to put somebody down who is doing it. I think everything has been said basically, but one more hint: the situation you wanted to create (him with your friends, an intimate BBQ at your place) is not exactly casual dating territory. This sort of thing can be misinterpreted as a wish to go down the path to a serious relationship. And once a guy is hooked, you won't be able to get rid of him, easily.
carhill Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 And once a guy is hooked, you won't be able to get rid of him, easily. I'm going through this right now. My cynical side says such mixed signals can be a purposeful plan of manipulation, though I don't think such cynicism should apply to the OP. It does underscore, though, how our signals and actions are perceived.
loveslife Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 It does underscore, though, how our signals and actions are perceived. I think this statement is the key to this entire thread. Even when I don't agree with the perspectives of people on this board I use their responses to understand how some others perceive certain actions. Dreamer, I totally understand how you feel what you're doing is the right thing and I totally support you in so many ways. The thing I think would be worth considering here is not what your intentions are but how your actions might be perceived by others. While I generally don't really care what others think of the things I do, I tend to think it's worthwhile to understand in the context of getting what I ultimately want.
Keoki Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Are you me? Do you know and understand what is working for me? To know what's working for you would require something to be working for you to begin with. It's obviously not, otherwise you wouldn't be complaining about it everyday.

It turned into a huge thread, a bit off of the actual topic. I've said countless times I'm fine with how things are. It's posters such as yourself, that put in comments like that (obviously not having a clue) that make this frustrating. I'm just fine with how I'm handling my dating life.
9Lives Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I agree with you Dreamgirl. It wasnt that complicated. Sorry it became such a ordeal.
Star Gazer Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I'm far too lazy to scroll through... Did he come??

Thanks I'm far too lazy to scroll through... Did he come?? Nope, nor have I heard from him, nor do I care if I hear from him. He flaked, he's not worth seeing again. I'm keeping my word on it. The bbq was still fun (with the except of one thing, see my most recent thread), and I was dateless and it didn't bug me one bit.
