Synesthesia Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 My boyfriend and I had been dating for a little over 2 months and we decided mutually to get engaged but not to act on it for quite some time. We've been together for well over a year now we recently got into a a pretty bad fight. While we were making up we decided that we were being really naive getting engaged that early on in the relationship and so we agreed to call off the engagement. Things are a lot better now and we're getting along almost better than we were before the fight but it still hurts a lot when I think about the fact that we were engaged. I can't listen to any of the songs we had picked out cause they depress me. He obviously says things now like "if we get married" instead of "when we get married" and although we agreed that calling the engagement off was a good idea it still really hurts and I'm having trouble coping with it. If anyone has any advice, ideas or constructive criticism I'd love to hear it.
Author Synesthesia Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 The reason we called off the engagement is that we jumped into being engaged to quickly and we felt that it was putting too much stress on things right now. Overall our relationship hasn't changed that much but our respective titles as eachothers fiancees are gone. Now we're just boyfriend and girlfriend. I just miss being his fiancee. We still talk a bit about our future together, like having kids and such but it feels like the certainty of it all just isn't there without the title =/
