Surfer Girl Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 As you know from my name.... I surf.... Tomorro in the Am I plan on surfing... I have been NC for 34 days..... I have surfed at the same break for 30 years.... It is my local break.... I love all the people I surf with and know the wave break very well..... Unfortunately it is the same area he surfs...... I don't want the contact, yet I don't want to be the one to lose my favorite area to surf..... I am very anxious about this because I am afraid he may surf there too tomorro..... I don't feel like I should be the one to give up my local area of friends because of him.... but then I may be in contact..... Doesn't seem fair!!!! I am thinking maybe if I get there early enough and he see's my car he won't surf there, but then again he might..... I know this may seem trivial, but to me it is big....... What to do!!!
TaraMaiden Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Surfer Girl, you know I'm in a right pickle at the moment, so take my advice or not as you see fit, but - Nobody can do it to you, unless you let them. And it's a big ocean. And when you're surfing, you have to have your mind focussed and your balance must be perfect. You know, there's a metaphor in Buddhism to do with the ocean, if I may put it forward... We see ourselves as unique individuals, separate and unique... but we are taught to think of ourselves as waves on an ocean.... we're all different, we all have our place, form and function, and way of manifesting... but you cannot disconnect one wave from another. we all function as a composite humanity, and we're inseparable, because were interdependent. So understand that he might have thoughts running through his head, too... And anxieties, and fears and worries... but look at all the other people on the beach, surfing. I wonder what stuff they have going on in their lives? What are their anxieties, what are their issues? We all got them. leave them on the beach. Concentrate on balance, posture and poise. Focus. don't be a sufferer. Be a surfer.
