My boyfreind (who I adore) of a year and a half has never been in a relationship before and does not get close to many people. He is worried that I am going to leave him and is always getting mad at me about something to try and push me away. For example.. he has not been sleeping lately and when I sleep over at his apartment I have to wake up early to go to work. This usually wakes him up and then he can't fall back asleep. So this morning, he didn't wake up and I didn't kiss him goodbye so that he could sleep (he is taking the MCAT at the end of the month and needs to sleep!)... I was planning on going over there right after work and spending the whole night together. When he woke up and realized I was gone without saying by he texted messaged me and said how "uncool that was" and how he thinks I did that on purpose to make him feel uncomfortable. He now does not want to see me tonight. I feel like I do a great job at being a good girlfriend and try to understand why he feels the way he does and help him see better.. but these fights are going to drive me crazy eventually. What can I do to help show him that I am not out to get him... that I truely care about him and that he has got to stop picking these silly fights-- and it is a silly fight, right???
Vet Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Sounds like he's insecure. He needs to be seen to realize that his feelings are going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy when you get tired of his insecurities of you leaving him.
JohnnyBlaze Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'd go see him tonight anyway. Let him see that you're not trying to push him away, and that you don't intend to let him do it for you.
