I've been a little bit in love a few times, but only amazingly, giddily, fantastically, all-consumingly in love once, with my third boyfriend. That was six years ago. I've been kinda in love twice since then, but like the boyfriends prior to #3, it just wasn't the same at all. My "in love" feelings weren't even close to what I felt for him.

I have been truly in love two times. The other times I liked them but it wasn't the same.

5.

Do we only have one great love?

No.

Thought I had been in love three or four times, but after I met my wife, realized that I'd never really loved anyone before her.

Three times.

No, I don't believe everyone has one great love.

I have been in love and in lust (they go hand-in-hand with me) four times. In plain lust, a few times. For the time being, I think I'll settle for just plain ol' lust.:)

Do people who believe we don't have one great love think that because they've been in love several times?

I'm not talking about soulmate bs or a one true love or anything like that. I just mean that while I've been in love several times, I've only had unbelievably intense feelings once in 20+ years. So I'm leaning toward believing I will never feel that intensely in love with anyone again. I know that I'm never going to date that person again, nor do I want to. The feelings have long ago vanished.

I know that I'll fall in love again (and again and again probably), and I'll probably get married one day, and it will be to a great guy. So I'm not being cynical or down on guys or relationships or love either.

I'd say honestly twice. Although the first one wasn't both ways, so looking back it at now, I look at myself like this  over the whole ordeal.

Then the second time was the most major one, and it was (and still is) both ways

There's no way you can know this.

You can't know this either.

We don't necessarily just have one great love. Some people find love many times. They generally have the ability to connect with many different types of people. Others never find it. They generally don't have this ability.

The majority of the population is in the middle.

Luckily for you, your feelings don't really care about what you believe ;)

one serious relationship where I thought He Was The One, Because I Loved Him So Much. Then I got over it.

fast forward to today, with my husband of 17 years: I've loved him from the beginning, but it's never been like it was with The One. It's much, much better because the relationship is based in reality ... and mutual respect and love.

you'll find throughout your lifetime, you're going to meet people that you will care for intensely, but in different ways ... that doesn't mean you'll never find the person you're meant to be with, and who is meant to be with you at the same time. You only need to open yourself to love when it comes knocking on your heart's door.

I thought it could only happen once. I thought my ex was the one until I met this new girl....she blows my ex out of the water in every aspect.

So even though I'm not IN love, I'm confident that I will definately love again :)
