Hey all,

I thought I would brighten up Monday by starting a thread where people can give the worst excuse they ever got from a potential date/ex or whatever. I just got a real dousy this past weekend from a woman I was supposed to see Saturday, this was texted to me about an hour after we were supposed to meet up...

'My roommate fell off her rollerblades, and I had to take her to the ER'

I thought it might be true for half a second, but as I called her afterward, it was obvious it was not. She couldnt remember what happened, or where they went, and wouldnt give me a straight answer about where she was...it was all obviously a lie, compounded by the fact she was supposed to call me later, and of course, did not.

Some other good ones:

'My phone has been having issues'

'My grandma is sick'

'I might not be feeling good tomorrow'

'I might have to give someone a ride'

Anyone else have some good ones?

Yea my friend was going to meet this girl he met at a restaurant well he got there sat at the table and waited. The first text she wrote him was "I'll be 15 minutes late" after about 20 min she text him " I'll call u when I get close to the restaurant I should be there within 30 min" and that was the last time he heard from her lol I felt bad when he told me I don’t understand why she just didn’t say I’m not interested in going out on a date with u just be direct about it not pretend that she's coming and never show up.

My friend had a good first date with a girl during which they spent 7 or 8 hours together and made out at the end. When he called her up a few days later to set up another date, she said she had to take her cousin to the hospital sometime during the following weekend because he was getting surgery on his jaw and would need her to drive him home. The very strange thing is that she didn't know whether this was going to happen on the Friday or Saturday of the week (i.e., the following week after their first date).

I have had surgery in the past and know that an operating room has to be reserved ahead of time, along with a certain team of nurses and an anesthesiologist. I told my friend that there was no way that the cousin wouldn't know on which day the surgery was supposed to take place.

Needless to say, they never went out again.

'I have to clean my house/apartment/dorm/room.'

I get that all the time; the girls just get that sudden urge to clean. Riiiiiight....

See, I dont get it.

Obviously, in both situations, the guy is going to realize he's been duped at some point, and be upset. I guess the only motivation for doing lame crap like that is that perhaps you wont have to be there when he figures it out? But then again, what happens if you ever see this guy again?

Seems shortsighted; if you BS today, you have to deal with it tomorrow.

Yeah, gotten that one. Or 'my friend needs me to help her x' which is usually something that could easily be done by one person, like vaccuum.

I wonder if women think we believe this because we're just like 'yeah, sure thing'.

Well, I got one a number of years ago I'll never forget.

I had been in contact with one young lady I fancied but didn't have the nerve to ask her out (this was a LOOOOONG time ago, by the way). When I finally did screw up the courage to ask her out, she said that she couldn't because her grandmother had died and had to go to the family visitation thing on that night.

I remember saying something like, "Yea, right. And I bet your dog ate your homework too! Nevermind, just forget it," and slammed down the phone. I was pissed off, getting blown off by some BS lie like that.

A couple of days go by.

Then I see an obit in the newspaper. "Gladys Pumperknickel passed away in her 89th year."

Turns out she was telling the truth after all.

Oops....:o

I got in touch with her that day or the day after, but she wasn't interested in me or my apology. And, frankly, I don't blame her.

Moral: Not all BS-sounding excuses are BS.

hahahahahaha Wow

See, I never call them out on whats obviously a lie. I just say 'oh ok' or something else, but I never come out and say 'yeah right'. Its just not worth it to argue, its obvious enough whats going on.

Not all excuses are BS, but 99% of them are.

Ok..I have a good one from a guy I had been dating a month...let me set up the situation...it was a Saturday and we had agreed for him to come to my house that afternoon and spend the rest of the day and night with me. 4:00 comes, no show...5:00 comes, no show...I text him at 6:00, no response....8:00, no response....he finally msgd me on blackberry telling me "Hey-I had a few, john showed up at the house, the guy next door came over, we went to get a few drinks, phones were lost. beer was found, etc, etc. My fault totally, and im usually a little more responsible than that. I'm sorry for my behavior and i fully understand if ur pissed." How in the world do 3 guys lose their phones at the same time???????

I am guilty of some bad excuses in the past. I told my now ex-boyfriend before a first date..

"I fell down the icy steps of my house and I think I broke my ankle".

Yikes

A long time ago I had a first date with a guy, and I didn't call him afterwards, and he didn't call me. That was all fine by me..then 2 months later, and calls me up and asks why I never called him. I told him he didn't call either..he told me "it was a test to see if I liked him, and I failed". Ha ha!
