jbcm Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I've been dating a girl for 4 months, and we've been attached to the hip most of that time. Not too long ago, I went with a group of friends to Mexico to cave dive. The cave we dove was one of the more dangerous caves in Mexico, and I told her that this was going to be a pretty dangerous dive. Anyways, right before we went were scheduled to dive, my girlfriend sent me a text that read, "Please be careful!! I'm in like with you." My question is, what does "I'm in like with you" mean? By the way, we have yet to say to each other "I love you" or "I'm in love with you".Thanks.
Ariadne Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 you." My question is, what does "I'm in like with you" mean? It was her cute version of I'm in love with you or something more romantic. But since you haven't said anything, she played it low. My take.

I think it means she really, really cares for you but doesn't want to freak you out by saying "I'm in love with you" until you say it first. I admire a guy like you who has the ba--s to dive off a cave.:bunny:
Intricategirl Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 To answer the question: what StillAFool said. Now, on to my own statement: BIG respect!! Cave diving is one of my top things I want to do. Just today I marked skydiving off my list and I plan on getting my certification in it, in addition to other crazy stuff I want to do. But cave diving is definitely on the list (probably want SCUBA training first, but I'll work my way there eventually). Anyway, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm in like with you too!!! It's seriously cool!
Thaddeus Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I think it means she really, really cares for you but doesn't want to freak you out by saying "I'm in love with you" until you say it first. I admire a guy like you who has the ba--s to dive off a cave.:bunny:I agree, she didn't want to give you a case of the heebie-jeebies and scare you off. And I, too, tip my hat (or, rather, scuba mask) to cave-divers. There aren't many things in this world that scare me, but that's one of them.
Author jbcm Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 Thanks everyone for your help in interpreting "I'm in like with you"' for me. Also, I'm surprised that cave diving intrigued some of you...ha. I love cave diving though. As I told her, a majority of the people that die in caves are not trained to cave dive and have no business being there. But, I've already assured her that, if and when I have a family, I'll walk away from this hobby of mine....actually mean that too. Anyways, thanks again.
Lucky_One Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 That's really cute! Good luck, and stay safe! So - are you "in like" with her back? When are you going to toss in the big ILY to her???
Author jbcm Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 I am, but a little nervous tossing that at her right now for some reason....yeah, I'll cave dive, but I'm scared to tell her ILY. Doesn't make sense. Thanks again.
xpaperxcutx Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I think it's cute of her to text you that. No pressure. If you're not at the stage where you think you can say those three word than don't force yourself. You'll earn more respect when you actually mean those words rather than professing to her out of of the need to impress. Sometimes, I think people say those words too easily like everyday conversations that they lost their entire meaning. Like I can say I love you to my friends and we all know that it's more friendship than relationship related. But I would never jump ahead to saying those words to a guy I like until I'm aware of my feelings towards him when the relationship has reached a " comfortable" point.
