AllieMay Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I'm from Alabama and I have alot of yankee friends and the guys say they love it, I also did a work abroad program in Australia for a while and was shocked at how many Australian guys love the accent, and I know when I'm being made fun of so that definetly wasn't it lol, it was so funny they'd get this dreamy look in their eyes and just couldn't get over it lol. I also speak properly and it's not out in the woods country, not saying that's bad though I love a good country accent:), It's just an Alabama drawl. So basically I wanna know does the accent turn you off, do you think it's cute or are you just indifferent?

For me, I don't like southern accents in general.
Gemini09 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I don't see anything wrong with a southern accent, unless its really extreme. In that case, I could see it being bothersome.
borbiusle Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I'm from New York so it's an ear strain to try and decipher what someone is saying through a Southern accent. I have no real bias against it, it's just hard to tell what someone is saying if they talk really fast.
wiko Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Unless your speech is filled with horrid english, it's pretty dang sexy. When I hear it from other guys, it sounds like they're at a limited mental capacity though.
Un-Conventional Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I love southern accents, one of the sexiest accents around. Nothin better than a southern belle.

Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I'm impressed that Aussie guys understand the accent. When it's really strong I certainly can't.
MadDriver Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I lubbbbb it! Sometimes I tune to Nancy Grace on CNN just hear that twang! Another thing I like about the south is that the women tend to be on the porkier side LA-style skin & bones looks good on the telly perhaps, but not so much of a turn-on in real life.

What do you think is the purpose of the pork chops, eggs, sousage & gravy breakfast, eh, sweetie? Cholesterol is a government conspiracy to weaken the Confederacy! In general, all southern women, from anywhere in the world, have softer/cuter/motherly vibe, that generally trumps the pale, bony & fierce () northern counterparts. THe south shall rise again! Secession now!

Secession now! Sam Spade, haha! It's too bad that Hollywood doesn't cast real, soft, porky, southern women even for "white trash" roles like Joy from "My Name is Earl". That blonde actress is too skinny. Just the other day I saw a beautiful young southern girl playing softball. Dirty blonde hair, black concert tshirt, tight denin shorts, and white shoes (not cleats). Nice bust, generous ass, and curvy, but definitely not fat or even thick. By the way she moved, you could tell her center of gravity was way down there. Sculpted face with pretty eyes. It's so hard to describe. You can find them at Nascar events.
monkey00 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 It seems to me the fascination of the accent thing is more common among women than men (as in women find it more appealing on a guy than vice versa). I went out once with a Texan girl, it didn't really do much for me. On my travels I've encountered women with accents too, not too much. What matters most for me is what's underneath the accent (whether or not there is one).

What matters in this case is Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu delivering your communication directly and confidently with that accent. Personally I'd melt with glee in the presence of your accent, but you're certainly going to get attention from all sides of the spectrum and it could be tough to conduct yourself confidently once you perceive somebody who isn't a total fan of your voice. I validate the "dreamy look" that guys seem to get, in your experience. Just be yourself and treat your accent like your hair color. Know in advance that some will love it, and others may have a preference for another color.
westernxer Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The further south the better. South of the navel, to be precise. LOL

It's so hard to describe. You can find them at Nascar events. The actress who plays that role is from the south. She's from North Carolina. What is all of this about southern women being porkier? lol...That just isn't true at all! Talk about stereotypes!
