This guy wrote me on the dating site I'm on. Seems totally nice, wrote me an interesting message, can't really tell what he looks like though, but he has great taste in music and books.

There is a standard question on the profile that asks: "What clothing item can you not live out?" (This is where my shallowness comes in...) And he answered: "My tevas."

AHHH! There is nothing more I hate than a man who wears Tevas! Or any kind of mandals for that matter (man sandals).

It's a mental block I know. But, I consider myself a relatively fashion-conscious person in the sense that I really value style, and...Tevas? Ack. He might as well be wearing crocs and a bolo in my mind.

:lmao:

Tevas, I can handle. Tevas with socks, I can't!

Mandals are a must for some outfits!

If a dude is wearing shorts, he should be wearing sandals with them- unless he's a landscaper, and he's working.

When summer first hit my ex and I went out to the beach and he wore runners with his cargo shorts!!

Just remember, a guy can change the way he dresses!

My gf dated a guy that is now one of the most fashion-forward guys around, but when they met he just couldn't pull an outfit together.

Underarmour boxer jocks.

The dude in the pic has a toenail fungus I think:lmao:

Maybe he is really outdoorsy or does alot of travelling?

My H wears mandals (Keen ones) when we go travelling, they look pretty dorky but they are the easiest travelling shoes to pack when you need to do alot of walking.

Yeah, they are pretty much unacceptable.

I shall nod graciously to the post title. Its befitting.

If it helps any , an endearing friend said "Hey some day I'm going to be wrinkled and butt ugly- so deal with that image NOW and we'll be life long friends". I Did . And we are.

I know way to many folks who lost fingers/limbs and other things to care what sandals they are wearing or what designer store they shop in....I dont judge a book by its cover but rather by the author.

If I'm wearing shorts, Sperry Topsiders (Canvas for casual or leather for button down shirts) is the way to go. Sandals just look cheesey to me.

Having said that, if my H had mentioned Tevas when we were exchanging our first emails (we met online), I probably would have felt the same way as you Panda.

In fact, I know I would have. H would never wear mandals just hanging out- its all about the jandal here in NZ (thongs to you CE).

I have surfer flip flops. Am I an R-TARD by your definition?!

LOL

Yeah, jandals, thong, flip flops....should not be overlooked. They are fine. Mandals are just not attractive in any way. Only crocs are worse, and not by much.

Any woman who judges me by my footwear (or clothing), or any woman who thinks she is the one to choose my footwear(or clothing), is a candidate for a padded cell. My fashion sense, or lack of it, is mine alone. IF you don't like what I'm wearing, and you are so superficial as to make it an issue, then go away.

I think it's legit (I too personally have the urge to punch in the face every dude that walks around showing his pigggies, but there are so many of them that its tiring).

It's still not a reason not to go on a date though, but the prospects of him looking palatable are very slim. The Tevas give him away :).

^^^ Word. One classy dude speaking here :)

I have never understood why some guys like to wear sandals or how they ever became fashionable in the first place. They don't look comfortable and someone wearing them quickly gets dirty feet and toenails. I could see wearing flip-flops on a beach or at a pool, but that's it for me. I think that guys who wear flip-flops while walking around shopping or whatever often look effeminate.

Flip-flops are fine, but I draw the line at anything else!

I mean, I can't date a guy who feet look like this:

http://www.h-lame.com/exec/vanilla.r?selector=display&snip=mandals

Lol I would have a problem with this also, I hate when men wear sandels or I should say mandals but its just shoes so I can live with it, I just dont look at his feet .

Also, he just wrote me again (without me writing him back) saying how he sees me at our local cafe (where I work out of pretty much everyday) and really wants to meet me.

CREEPY??

Hardly. He's just showing interest. Is showing interest creepy? Or is it just creepy to you because you've got something against a guy in sandals?

(FWIW, I don't do sandals myself, but I don't care one whit whether other fellows do or not.)

Hey, I wore tevas on my round-the-world trip and wore them every day. They went everywhere and were waterproof, though they didn't have much support and really made my plantar fasciitis go crazy. Any man who wears tevas is good enough for me, since they seem to be the shoe of choice for world travellers. Next time I'm getting keens though.
