Thornton Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I've had this happen to me too, only the guy in question was a freaky looking stranger who followed me home in broad daylight, and actually chased me when I ran away. He then proceeded to hang around outside my house, and I even saw him poking around my garden at 3am. I was terrified and I called the police, but there wasn't much they could do as I couldn't identify him. Thankfully he seems to have stopped now. Stalking someone isn't just uncool, it's downright threatening and scary for the woman concerned.

Perhaps the guy doesn't know how to approach the girl, or is terribly shy, and he daren't speak to her so he just follows her around, staring at her and probably frightening the life out of her. Or perhaps he's somewhat mentally retarded or psychologically damaged in some way, and he doesn't understand what's acceptable behaviour and what's not. Either way, I wasn't exactly endeared to this guy who was stalking me - I was so afraid of him that I called the police and had extra locks and security lights installed in my house.

He follows me around this forum, posting on threads I post in. I'll be talking to someone else and suddenly he goes "RICO SUAVE!!!!!", Then talking to someone else he goes "That's not logical", then talking to someone else on a third thread..........you get the point. I don't know the guy, I just had a debate with him on another thread where we disagreed, and now he feels the impulse to chase me around posting after me. Friggin weirdo.

Keeps you from having to re-register. IMO, this experience is more akin to negative attention than stalking, due to the lack of threat to personal safety.

I know he wasn't really stalking me, but he's got issues.

This is supposed to be an advice forum and I don't understand why people don't recognise and deal with their forum addictions. Spending all day discussing topic after topic on male/female interactions can't be healthy unless it's related to your work. If you get to the point where you're posing a thread about a forum stalker you have a problem. Confront that instead.

I can either watch numbers tick non stop and only that, or do other stuff on the internet at the same time. But good point, I see a lot of people spend way too much time on this forum.

My last post was a joke...I guess the sarcasm didn't register. There's no legitimate reason for a guy to stalk a girl. While I might be able to understand him and reason that his intentions aren't necessarily harmful (like you said, someone who's mentally retarded or has trouble understanding social interaction and doesn't realize that he is stalking or that stalking is wrong), the guy is never justified. A girl should never have to deal with that fear or invasion of privacy, even if it's a mentally or socially retarded guy who has innocent intentions. Just read more of the thread and realized this is about a forum stalker. Big deal man, you know that there's an ignore feature on these forums? I wish they had that in real life.

In other threads I'm talking to someone else and he just chimes in, deliberately to piss me off. For example, a poster was asking if she should still be friends with a guy after he used "going to a toilet" as an excuse to get into her place, but she said nothing was going to happen, etc, etc. I told her friends was ok, but don't have a relationship with him, and then added that reminds me of the time I did the same and the lame trick worked. VET Chimes in........"Rico Suave!!!" It doesn't even add to the discussion if you know what I mean, and is a semi attack. Just friggin imature, and he keeps doing it. I just started this thread as a bit of a joke, but since you wanted details, that was it.
