dressing up Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Guys, I know you don't notice labels or the kind of shoes we girls wear. But do you really prefer skirts over pants, hourglass body shape showing through fitting dresses and heels over flats? What clothing ensemble in public in a woman would turn your head (be realistic; no answers like being naked)? What about your favorite clothing ensemble in a woman you're dating? Does a good dress sense really matter? How much does it matter?
EddieN Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Clothing makes no difference to me. A jeans and a t-shirt that show off her figure and goods turns me on just as much as a good dress. Showing a bit of skin and cleavage turns me on, but showing very little does the same because it's makes me think about what's under there. I really think girls get crazed with clothes for other girls, not guys...because most guys, like myself, can get turned on by anything a girl is wearing, as long as she carries herself well and isn't too cheesy.

Does it make sense that I get more appreciating looks when I wear a dress that shows my figure than t-shirts and shorts and flip flops?
EddieN Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Well I think many guys assume that when you wear a dress you're looking for guys' attention, thus they're more comfortable pursuing you. For me, I think the same girl in a dress and in regular clothes holds different types of attraction. Her in a dress turns me on to her classy and glamorous side. Her in more regular yet well-carried clothes makes me realize that she can be naturally beautiful without presenting it in a flashy dress and makeup. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I can be completely stunned by girls dressed up, but in a different way than a girl I see in a t-shirt and flip flops.
New Again Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Does it make sense that I get more appreciating looks when I wear a dress that shows my figure than t-shirts and shorts and flip flops? Sure, cuz it "shows your figure"
Starry-eyed Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I know that my bf likes clothes on women that are figure-showing, but nothing sleazy or trashy. He especially seems to like a certain kind of outdoorsy look, snug tank-tops and t-shirts, shorts that show off nice legs. Women that look like they like to go hiking and mountain biking and building patio decks, but in a feminine way. Don't know if that makes sense or is helpful at all. Definitely no tatoos or piercings or spike-heeled shoes.
missdependant Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 My boyfriend doesn't seem to care, but has always told me how much he hates tube tops lol

What clothing ensemble in public in a woman would turn your head (be realistic; no answers like being naked)? What about your favorite clothing ensemble in a woman you're dating? Slinky tiny dresses > Skirt Skirt > Jeans Jeans > Slacks Nuff said.
bac Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Sorry, I am not a guy. So, I have no idea what guys want us to wear. But I have questions about the outfits for the first date with a nice man in 40s. I am in 40s, but I like to wear teens outfits. I am slender. I want to wear a short skirt and a tight top on the first date. I hope it looks kind of sexy. But I want the man in 40s to consider me as a GF potential, not as a girl for a short-term relationship. Shall I wear a short skirt and look sexy?

Isolde Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Umm there is only one thing I can't resist. The SLBD (Slutty Little Black Dress). Slinky tiny dresses > Skirt Skirt > Jeans Jeans > Slacks Nuff said. I have one that may qualify, but it hasn't been worn in years. You're making me miss it. Seriously though, I agree that the right dress is more attractive than skirts for the most part. Even for work, I opt for a dress that comes up just above the knees. Much more flattering and no need to match colors, fabrics and shapes.
Trialbyfire Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Bac, it's impossible to tell someone what to wear without knowing what they look like. If you want some real advice on what suits not only your body but your face, you'll have to post a pic. There's a way to do this by restricting access, creating a private album and then adding people on as contacts. Some women in their forties can get away with short skirts while others, regardless of thinness, can't. It's not only what you wear but also, how you wear it.
fral945 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 But do you really prefer skirts over pants, hourglass body shape showing through fitting dresses and heels over flats? Phrase bolded is what makes me turn my head. I don't care what kind of clothes you are wearing, you have to have a good body for me to do anything more than look once. What clothing ensemble in public in a woman would turn your head (be realistic; no answers like being naked)? What about your favorite clothing ensemble in a woman you're dating? Assuming she has a good body, any clothing style that shows cleavage and an hourglass shaped body will make me do a double take. Does a good dress sense really matter? How much does it matter? No, doesn't matter much at all. With that said, though, I find most women with good bodies have a good dress sense. That is not the case with women with less appealing bodies.
kizik Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I find most women with good bodies have a good dress sense. That is not the case with women with less appealing bodies. To add: why is it that many overweight women refuse to buy in their sizes? Today was a visual overload of flesh exploding from jean skirts and tube tops.
MadDriver Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I am in 40s, but I like to wear teens outfits. I am slender. That's cool. So, do you shop at Claire's for your accessories?
joseffrost Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 simple shirt/blouse, with a pencil skirt and heels. Drives me crazy every time.
Ted Michael Morgan Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Classic styles, preppie, or business styles with flare. My fomer wife could pull off many looks. She always look stylish.
JohnnyBlaze Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Sure, cuz it "shows your figure" And that's the key. A blouse and skirt, white t-shirt and jeans, or any other good combo all have that in common - they show figure. It's a girl saying "hey, I like the way my body looks. I hope you do, too". Wearing too much baggy clothing sends the wrong message. It's saying "something's wrong with my body and I don't want you to see it." So we don't. Of course, if it's winter, the message could just be "it's f***ing cold out", but that's another story.

But I want the man in 40s to consider me as a GF potential, not as a girl for a short-term relationship. Shall I wear a short skirt and look sexy? I am not a guy but I think there are a couple key things here. If your skirt is some pink sparky thing, then I suggest not wearing it unless it's in the bedroom with heels. If it's just a short skirt that make syou look sexy and you got the body to do it, why not? Just make sure that if your showing off your legs you aren't showing off every body part at the same time. I am a firm believer that just because you get older ,doesn't mean you have to wear old-lady clothes. I also don't think you should be wearing a teen-outfit out there but I also shop in teen clothes because of my petite build and can find clothes that no one would guess came from those stores. Rock on in your short skirts.
39388 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 To add: why is it that many overweight women refuse to buy in their sizes? Today was a visual overload of flesh exploding from jean skirts and tube tops. You never miss a chance to bash "overweight" women. I'd love to date one of these "overweight" women who are proud enough to wear what they want.
Author dressing up Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 My boyfriend doesn't seem to care, but has always told me how much he hates tube tops lol Does he like tube sundresses though? I agree, kizik. Sundresses are nice.
Author dressing up Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Assuming she has a good body, any clothing style that shows cleavage and an hourglass shaped body will make me do a double take. Isn't too much cleavage a little sleazy? I know guys like them but wouldn't you prefer less of them at first, if you know what I mean?
