I think the girl in the middle could use some muscle. Also, I think she's smaller than a size 8. I'm pretty tall - 5'8 - considerably more muscular and slightly fatter than she is, and I waver between a 4 and a 6. She is smaller than me. I'd guess her to be a size 4.

I think the other two could lose some fat.

Yeah I agree. I think the girl on the right would be a size 8 moreso then the other one. I wear a 6 or an 8 (depending on cut of the pant) and I have hips more like the one on the right. I don't think she is a size 16 either, she's def. not big enough.

Woah, who put naked girls in my thread?

Well to throw my opinion out there, the girl in the middle looks the thinnest. I would never think she was an 8 though, I look more like the girl on the right and I'm a 6! I have trouble finding pants let me tell ya.

I suspect they are using standard sizes, not vanity sizes.

Yeah, true.

Yeah, true.

Just to be clear when I said my GF is a 00, that's a vanity size invented because 2,4,6,... are swollen out due to vanity sizing. She's probably a "std" 2 or 4, which is tiny but not as small as 00/XS might seem.

A lot of Asians and other foreigners are smaller than modern "American" sizes can accommodate.

I guess I don't understand what the difference is or why it matters the exact definition of skinny. Just appreciate that people are different. There are big guys and thin guys, too, why focus on what men think is 'skinny'. Be how you want to be and what makes you happy, be that thin, 'skinny', curvy, or plump. There is someone for everyone and if you appreciate and love yourself, and work to be the best you can be, you will find someone who will think you are the hottest woman on earth whether you're a size 2, 12, or 16.

Lots of men think Jennifer Aniston is the hottest goddess on earth, some could take or leave her, others think "no, thanks."

Some guy out there thinks Queen Latifah is hotter than hell.

Think she was a "size 10" all the time despite that? Come on.

No, that was my point. She was several different sizes and measurements throughout her adulthood. So you can say she had a 23 inch waist. that was at one point. The next month she could have had a 30 inch waist.

Sometimes she looked pretty pudgy, sometimes not.

I feel like the link of the 3 women sized 8, 12 and 16 is incredibly unrealistic. The size 8 woman must have VERY wide hip bones to fill a size 8 and still have so little fat on her. And a size 16 in the real world would have rolls of fat. a size 16 woman can't even shop in a normal clothing store and has a belly.

Humm.. that doesn't look like a 23 in. waist.. at all.. she was on the chunky side most of her adult life..

12 years ago I was wearing size 26 jeans.. let me tell you that I was waaaayyyy skinnier than MMonroe...

Yeah that's why I said that men still thought she was gorgeous and had an awesome figure despite the fact that she wasn't a skinny little model as some of the sex symbols of our time.

Don't worry, the fatties are just jealous :). the image of what's percieved "normal" is so skewed by the epidemic obesity, that healthy slim chicks need to put up with passive agressive comments . If it's any consolation, 95% of all guys will want to do bad things to you if that's you in the picture

I agree with this. I did a brief modeling/promotional gig for a vintage clothing store recently and the owner said to me, "You could fit into most of the things here; back when a lot of these things were made ('40s, '50s, '60s) your body type was pretty much the norm, not like how it is now." And yes, that's me in the avatar.

This is an awesome article that I found. It depicts the history of women's bodies and how it has effected our society. It's interesting how the different decades define "thin and sexy."

She oozed pure sex. Her size had nothing to do with her being a sex symbol. She'd be technically "fat" to most people now. I really hate when people bring her up for this sort of thing, she was one of a kind.:laugh:

I agree she was, I actually love her. I always watch biographies and things on her.

It upsets me too. I remember seeing an article in a magazine a few years ago with a picture of Marilyn Monroe that included scribbles from a plastic surgeon describing all the things that would have to be done in order for her to meet today's standards of beauty--it was a heck of a lot, including lots of liposuction in the hips and thighs, a tummy tuck...I felt really down after seeing that.

Meh... I don't think the media is perpetuating unreasonable standards. Yes, there are some freaky skinny celebs, but I wouldn't say unhealthy-thin is the ideal.

Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron... just a list off the top of my head of famous women who, IMO, have attainable, sustainable, healthy bodies.

Why is it when people try to justify fat chicks as being sexy they show us pictures of washed up pudgy Marilyn Monroe and not slim, young, hot Marilyn? :D

Curvy skinny

Straight down skinny

Tall, lean skinny

Small lean skinny

Skeletal skinny (bones show)

I'm sure there is more. It depends on the body type I think.

A Spinner .. that is the best kind of skinny..

Although a woman that is small can also be a spinner

The way I see it, the problem isn't a lack of female celebs with healthy bodies. The problem is that there are not a lot of curvy actresses (again, curvy being very distinct from fat). Related to this, most actresses with prominent breasts have implants. I realize that a Monroe-like hourglass figure isn't any more realistic than a super skinny one, but at least it would add some variety and promote appreciation that there can be more than one paradigm.

Mmmmm spinner. Mmmmmm.

I think the Marilyn Monroe type figure is still very attractive to today's men.

I think more men are attracted to women like Scarlett Johanson and Salma Hayek than to women like Mila Jovovich.

You are pretty much restating what I said. Thanks for the clarification, however!

Anyway, the original question "What consitutes a skinny girl?' really can't be answered factually because it is the type of question which is an opinion. Some guys would classify a size 8, fit woman as "skinny." Some would say that a woman who is size 2 is "skinny." However, SCARjo is a size 2, yet some guys would call her "skinny" and others would say "curvy."

It's the same as "What constitutes "pretty" and what is "cute" and what is "sexy"? You will have a million different answers. Some guys will say "Pretty, cute, sexy" they're all the same, others will state "wrong, there is a distinct difference." Others will say any woman who gives me a hardon is "attractive" but not necessarily "pretty", etc. etc. etc.

Seriously size 10 is skinny to men who enjoy women who are higher than size 12.
