This came up in my other thread. I thought I would put this in the dating section because it is more of a general relationship and attraction type question.

What do you think "skinny means"? Are skinny girls more likely to get dates? Do men have preferences as to what THEY feel skinny is?

Skinny does not mean attractive... There are so many variations

I think skinny is relative and "American Skinny" is usually pretty nice. Really thin girls are rare here, not so rare other places.

Skinny is not my ideal girl. A girl that works out and has some meat to her is what i like.

I don't think of skinny as having a positive connotation. Skinny to me means that they need to gain weight to be normal.

When a girl thinks 'skinny' it is usually Posh or Allegra Versace, who lack basic femininity.

When a guy thinks 'skinny' he is probably thinking your average Maxim girl, who is thin but has boobs and a butt.

Me? When I think 'skinny' I just think about the Adderall and coke fueled celebs who are on a race to the bottom of the scale to see who can be the thinnest. It is a status thing for them.

As for who gets dates? I would think a guy would choose a thin girl with round boobs, tiny waste, and a round butt before they would choose a girl who looks anorexic and is lacking any curves.

Skinny to me means emaciated, underweight, skeletal. Slim means healthy and attractive, not overweight or underweight. In general I think most men are likely to be attracted to slim girls, rather than girls who are overweight or underweight.

I wouldn't say they lack basic femininity but Allegra Versace isn't healthy looking. I had to google them both, but if the top results for "Posh" are what you're talking about she's not half bad.

Skinny = not a lot of flesh, kinda boney, slender = not quite skinny, but not a lot of curves, slim = below average weight and either curvy or not

I don't really equate curviness with femininity, but it is somewhat difficult to look feminine without some degree of flesh, IMO. Also, to me, curvy has nothing to do with fat, so it bothers me when people use it as a euphemism!

I think these are pretty good descriptors.

To me, "skinny" is far and away NOT attractive. Lean and toned ALL OVER, is, regardless of measurements.

I prefer "slim" to "skinny." Too skinny is just no fun, I like some curves!

I would say my ideal body type is 5'5", 130 lbs ish, but in good shape with curves in the right places.

 Is that for me??? :batting eyelashes:

If we're going to refer to celebrities, I think Keira Knightley looks feminine but Posh doesn't. Keira's obviously naturally thin, though she probably stretches it farther by paying attention to what she eats. She looks graceful but Posh just looks bony. This is my opinion and not everyone will agree!

I do think curviness can add femininity but its definitely not requisite to look feminine, if that makes sense. There can be parallel conceptions of femininity where one's lithe and the other's more soft.

I echo what others have said. Skinny to me is skeletal, underweight.

You don't look "skinny" by any definition in your pictures (despite the clever cropping), and that's a GOOD thing. :bunny:

lol, I suppose it could be. ;)

haha, I was wondering when you would notice the quote! :p

Celebrities, hmm... I would say Rose McGowan is one of my favs, as is Elisha Cuthbert.

I'm also a huge fan of Alexis Bledel and Natalie Portman.

Posh used to be attractive but she has lost too much weight now.

Allegra, well that is just sad. She is anorexic, and I do not think she is a 'trendorexic' either. She has some serious problems. I feel bad for her.

I didn't notice any cropping.

What is it with guys and Natalie Portman?:laugh: I agree with Alexis Bledel though Phateless, she's gorgeous and she's not a stick.

Yeah I agree with the other posters. I think slim is the best, but skinny is not. Skinny would be underweight, while slim would be ideal weight. I don't like boniness.

I am much more attracted to a girl with more meat on her than a really skinny girl, like Keira Knightley. She's my definition of skinny without being unhealthy.

Maybe I'm looking at different pictures. Two of them are decidely not full-body pictures and crop her arm off half-way? *shrug*

I've seen many pictures of Posh and never thought she was as attractive as everyone makes her out to be. She looks very fake too.

I want to slap Beckham...he could have any woman he wants in the entire world and he picks her?

What constitute skinny:

Skinny is definetely NOT attractive.. it's boney, skeleton-type.. ewwww...

I see skinny legs.. small thighs with big boney knees... boney shoulders... definitely not 'healthy' looking.

Posh looks like a mole.. (something about the lower face)..she's one of the uggliest celebrity..

She was actually really pretty before, she was thin but looked healthy and not so cold and bitchy (that's how she comes across by never fricking smiling ). She's skeletal now and it's kind of freaky.

Maybe he being with her just suggests she's very different behind closed doors. :p
