Perhaps if you're asking him to do whatever you have in common... e.g. "I know you like sci-fi, and so so I, so I thought you might like to see this sci-fi movie with me". Otherwise it might seem a bit out of place to randomly mention something you have in common.

No I don't think you should...having things in common is over rated. Suggest something you like. If you are initiating the date then you should suggest something you like doing and not try too hard to please him

well I went against the grain and mentioned a common interest (as a joke). I guess I will just have to wait & see...

hey if you were direct that's good.

I would find it attractive.

Of course, it all depended how early on in the R it was, to early- and the 'chase' was over :)

There is no R. Just a 'keep seeing you & chatting but the place of chatting is not appropriate for me to ask anything since I work here.' (and you dont)

I made my boyfriend watch cricket for 6 hours on our first date which wasnt a date ... but hey...we're together a year later.

He likes that I told him thats what I wanted to do even though he told me he hated it he likes the fact I have an interest in something different.

In my email I made it super short & to the point. I know he will still be shopping where I work so I wanted to keep it pretty sterile in case he wasn't interested.
