cuvtoot Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Hello. I'm a first-time poster to this forum. I'm from the Pittsburgh area, and I was recently doing some Googling regarding the incident that took place a couple of weeks ago at the LA Fitness center in Collier township. I was out of town when the actual event took place, so I missed a lot of the media coverage. Anyway, I stumbled upon a post here that someone left about how they "identify" with George Sodini "way too much". I figured I'd put my two cents in on the matter. First let me give a little bit of background information about myself. I've lived in the Pittsburgh region all of my life. I'm a 30 year old, divorced white male. Now, my two cents: First and foremost, what George Sodini did was absolutely sickening, and I in no way condone his actions. However while I cannot relate to his reasoning, I can relate to his plight with women in this area. There's definately a reason why this region is chronically rated "worst place in the country for singles" by Forbes magazine. But why? That's the qestion I've been asking myself ever since I hit puberty. I wish I would have known Mr. Sodini, because I would have gladly explained to him that the problem wasn't him, it was where he lives. The widely publicized youtube videos and blogs that he composed were created near the end of his life. At some point this guy was most likely normal. What we're being shown in the media is a result of nearly 20 years of isolation and rejection. Nowhere in his writings (from what I've seen so far), does Mr. Sodini lay blame for his shortcomings with the opposite sex on the area in which he resided. He blamed women in general, and himself. What a poor, confused bastard. If only someone was there to smack him in the face and tell him "dude, it's not you!" Sadly, that never happened. Trust me, I totally accept the fact that women in this region are just plain "different". There's a sort of unjustified snottiness about them. I've always found it rather humorous, since I'm well traveled and I know that they're much different in other cities. This is what I can't figure out about Pittsburgh though: This is a very decadant area. Just about every vice other than sex is at the level of a downright scourge here. Heroin (and all other hard drugs), alcoholism, gambling, etc. However (and I'm not saying this is a bad thing) not to sound crass here, but the women don't put out. (sorry, no other way to put it). What a paradox, huh? You have single girls going out to nightclubs, snorting lines of cocaine off dirty toilet seats (seriously, it's really that bad), getting completely bombed......then going home alone. It's amazing, and it's a complete joke to myself and all of my single friends. We just laugh. George Sodini obviously didn't find it too funny though.
Starshine Black Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I live near Pittsburgh. I guess in a way you're right. PA girls in general pretty much just suck though.

Yeah, but WHY do they suck? Look, I'm not a big "party" person. I drink a little but that's it. Pittsburgh girls drink like fishes, most of them are on drugs, they dress like total sluts, BUT......they don't PUT OUT! WTF? It's such a bizarre paradox! Like I said before, I've accepted the fact that this area sucks for chicks. No biggie. I can get it elsewhere easily. But still.....it's such a curiosity to me.
