my girlfriend is taking part in something called "city chase," which is supposed to be like a giant scavenger hunt where teams of 2 are supposed to complete "challenges" to get points.

for starters, she's teaming up with a friend (male), not me, which hurt. i was hoping she'd at least ask me to be her teammate. and secondly, after trying to find out more about this thing, i've found a few descriptions of what these "challenges" are which include things like strip basketball, strip bowling, playing suck & blow, dancing like a stripper, posing nude in an art class, etc. in other words, things i would rather she not take part in.

i don't know if my jealousy or fear is unjustified, so i'm seeking other opinions. am i overreacting? or is it fair for me to not want her to take part in these kinds of events? i'd be uncomfortable doing these things if i were on her team, but as an outside observer, it makes me feel even worse to know that she might do these things. and if i am justified in being jealous/angry/afraid, do i talk to her about it? i get the feeling she won't back out of this & she's not going to swap her friend teammate with me. or if she does, i feel she won't forgive me for having her miss out on this opportunity. i don't think she knows she might have to partake in these kinds of events either. she's not the type who would readily sign up for such a thing if she knew. at least, i don't think she would.

thanks for your help, everybody.

city chase is lots of fun and don't be too concerned about any stripping. The year I did it there was a version of "strip cricket". Given that these events are outside and most governments don't like people getting totally nekkid in public they are pretty tame. The worse I saw was ladies down to their jogging bra. Given it was a hot day and you have generally run 15km by that point you don't mind.

I think I also had to swim in my running gear but that was OK too.

Have you asked her why she asked her friend? Maybe she didn't think you would be interested? I wouldn't have done city chase with my husband a few years ago as it helps to be a bit fit. I just assumed (rightly as it turned out) that it isn't his thing.

Communicate with her! Let her know that this is the kind of thing you woul like to do with her.

Have you thought about going in it yourself and asking a female friend to be your teammate?

Then you'd find out pretty quickly if there's a double standard at work...
