laRubiaBonita Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 i am not scottish, and i do not love scottish men- i know a few scots and they are nice guys and i like them, but i don't love them.
BenThereDunThat Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I dunno if I could say I love Scottish men. The accent is a bit hard to understand at times. But the way they're portrayed (except for Fat Bastard ) in movies, etc. They just seem more manly. They're guys' guys.
2sure Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I didnt say that as nicely as I should have. Ahem....to my regret, I have trouble with accents - an embarrassing flaw of my own. Some are music to my ears, and others not so much.
Author Soul Bear Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 ok...there is the stereotypical scottish accent....Which comes from Glasgow. There are LOADS of different accents in Scotland, and they are all totally different from the others..... Personally, I'm well travelled and no one can ever place my accent, it's forever changing...some people think im south african, australian, american, scottish, irish and some don't have a clue at all... So it's not the accent
Author Soul Bear Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 lol, this thread is starting to backfire. There was no general direction for it to go anyway I didnt say that as nicely as I should have. :lmao:
2sure Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 People, men and women both are attracted to foreigners in general. Just nice to have something different. I have a ton more men flirt with me when I am abroad than I do at home ...and I'm american.
Author Soul Bear Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I always wanted an American GF....or maybe Itallian, or even South African.... I feel a holiday coming on.....

2sure Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 It might not be because you are Scottish either, it might be because you look hot. Plus add the foreigner element, and the accent, and manly man thing...you should be doing alright. For me, all I can think of is Mike Meyers. But you know, like I said - US.
Lyssa Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I always wanted an American GF....or maybe Itallian, or even South African.... South Africans are hot! Most of the women and men are gorgeous! I was surprised when I first stepped foot in Cape Town . Also, most have really good taste in cars!
boldjack Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Jeez 2sure, that sounded just a little snobbish. You probably wouldn't like to talk to me then, I've got an accent on me , fit to curdle milk.
2sure Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Oh no, its not snobbish on my part...it TRULY is a problem for me. I am the ugly american when I am in another country, I not only cannot speak a second language...I have a hard time understanding canadians! Its a defect.
Trialbyfire Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Soul Bear, in my country, Scottish men ARE the foreigners. I'll openly admit to finding the accent sexy. And with that, say something for the LS women using vocaroo.com!

Trialbyfire Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Yes, please do! I just went and created an account. No idea how to use it! Does your computer have a microphone or do you have a headset with a microphone? If not, you can't record your voice. If so, just click on the record button, which will lead you through the rest. If it's not working, check your firewall, default recording device and recording levels! My desktop is locked down tighter than Fort Knox, so it doesn't work with it, since I won't loosen up the security. I use my laptop for vocaroo. Anyways, I'm off to my meeting so I hope to hear some interesting recordings later.
BenThereDunThat Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 No microphone. But could I still listen to other people's recordings?
boldjack Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I'm surprised at you, 2sure. For trying to pull some **** like this......Oh! my delicate yankee ears can't understand all of that foreign gibberish, and I so wanted to communicate with Raul or Pablo, or Ahmed or Ludmilla(pick a foreign name) but My lily-white tongue just can't make those sounds. Woe is me! I can stomach most things, but Elitism makes me gag. You are part of NY society, so why should you have to learn about other cultures, when they are all inferior and /or incomprehensible . JEEZ!! Anybody can learn a second language, if they really want to.. My 2 year old Granddaughter can count to 30 in French, and will be fluent, by the time she gets to JR. High. I'm sorry, but this struck a nerve.
Trialbyfire Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 If you an normally hear clips, like with youtube, you can hear linked vocaroo recordings. It's reliant on whether or not your computer at work has speakers. If no speakers, then a headset.
sally4sara Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 My family is supposedly Irish, but since we can only trace ourselves to Ulster, we might as well just say we're Celtic. Ulster was a place many came from Scotland/Ireland/Wales to before heading to America. When I think back to the many generation of men (but not just the men!) in my family, a couple traits were constant even if the relative was a jerk otherwise. A few still had their accent from their parents and I must have a bit of that myself because I'm often asked about where I'm from. Very capable and useful in any situation. Good craftsmen; good with their hands. Many of my relatives own patents. Crafty in other ways to; quick on their feet and streetwise. Love of conspiracy theories . Big time grudge holders! I know we're suppose to be big drinkers too but I can only think of one relative who was know to be an alcoholic and he died before I was born - so who knows if the common traits I can think of were due to our ancestry.
Author Soul Bear Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I don't have a mic no thread jacking, it's all relevant, don't worry!
