Ok so i know most of you have heard of the law of attraction where "like attracts like" and "you are the creator of your own universe"

Has anyone actually had any success with this? Meaning...has anyone used it and saw what they wanted to happen actually happen?

An ex coming back could certainly be involved with LOA so i thought I would post it here and see what others had to say.

I have tried using this in the past with mixed results. Often times what I think about will happen but not exactly as I pictured and there were times that what I wanted did happen but turned out to be a horrible mistake.

As I have said in other posts I have had numerous exes come back but that was only after I completely forgot about them and gave up on hoping they would return. It wasn't like I kept hoping and envisioning them come back and while i was doing that it happened. It only happened when I completely let go and moved on.

Anyone else have experiences with this?

It's all psychology. And psychology, in my opinion, is a proven science. Law of Attraction is a lamens term for a subcategory of it

I think the key to law of attraction is detachment from the outcome.

"The fourth and final thing to remember is that whenever we feel nervous, anxious, impatient, or scared, we are pushing away the very thing we want. That is why it is so important to detach from the outcome. Detachment is about not caring whether we will get what we want. It is about being okay with things being exactly as they are now. When we are okay with never getting what we want, all resistance will be gone."

I guess it sort of depends on how you look at it.

For instance, if you consider that world-wide phenomena of "The Secret," it might sound like it's grounded in science (quantum fields and all that) but no self-respecting physicist will have anything to do with it. One can't just sit at home and think happy thoughts of Ask, Believe and Receive and expect 'the universe' to dump happiness in one's lap, regardless of what it says in "The Secret."

(For the record, I seem to recall that one of the proponents of "The Secret" that was featured in the DVD was charged with fraud in Australia a few years ago, something about fraudulent investing. Can't find the details at the moment. I wonder if did the Ask-Believe-Receive deal...)

But the other side of it is that if you're generally a positive person, that will tend to draw positive people towards you.

So no, it's a fraud, and yes, it can be true. Depends on your perspective and how you wish to define LoA.

The way I see it the bottom line is: if you are positive about things you want, then you will subconsciously do things to get them. If you are negative about things you want, you will subconsciously do things to sabotage them. Your reality is what you make of it really. You can choose your perspective, and go from there.

I do not believe it is some magic force in the universe that makes things happen, rather a force of will from within.

This is a very interesting thread for me to find here, because this played a big part in my breakup. Right at the same time as having my heart broken, I was getting into the Law of a Attraction, reading books by Wayne Dyer about the power of intention and believing in the power of being positive, and I'm not sure if it helped me or harmed me. I did too good of a job of thinking positive. She didn't come back for 3 months, I didn't get angry or sad, I stayed positive. She got a new boyfriend, I didn't get angry or sad, I stayed positive. Now as time goes on, I'm still not healed, because I haven't gone through the usual pain anger sadness etc, and I'm wondering if this is good or bad. I STILL send good thoughts out to the universe about her coming back, probably wasting my time.

I'd like to think it's all true, but I don't know.

Night, dear to my understanding the power of manifestation lies in surrendering ur will to the Universe - and stating what u want - seeing what it is u want - believing u have what it is u want and then the catch is - If its for the greater good...

be careful what u seek - u never know what is seeking u...

meditation - opening urself up and getting to ur core helps

Yeah... the "detachment from outcome" thing is the hardest part. If I didn't care what the damn outcome is then why would I be researching something like the power of attraction anyway. If I don't care whether or not my ex comes back then why would it matter to me either way. It's a paradox, but I guess it's meant to be.

After giving it a lot of merit for a long time, I can say that I ended up as basically a non-believer. If it is for real then it's a much harder art to perfect than The Secret seems to elude to. I tried this for a time and actually came up with a beautiful product, doing something I never dreamed I could do. But when it came to selling it, it fell flat on its face. So, I ended up feeling pretty disillusioned about the whole thing. As you described before, you may get your 'wish' but that wish falls apart and turns out to be nothing but a huge mistake.

I don't like a lot of the people in The Secret - James Ray, for one. I've been to one of his seminars and he is really into hard, pressured sales. It seems to me that if you know how to manipulate the law of attraction, you wouldn't need the hard sales, would you? It was a real turn-off for me. Although he has interesting things to say, he reminds me of a used car salesman.

The only one that impressed me with their consistency is Esther Hicks. The Abraham-Hicks teachings are pheonomenal and, although they never really changed my life much, they're pretty consistent with their teachings and have very wise things to say. Esther & Jerry Hicks, btw, are the ones who got into legal issues with the maker of The Secret. They had an agreement that was broken and it all fell apart - which is why Esther was removed from the original video and replaced by someone else. She insisted that she be removed because of their disagreements. So much for law of attraction, huh?

I don't know what the real answer is about the LOA except that I see a lot of people getting rich talking and writing about ways to get rich, or to improve your life somehow.

When they say detach from the outcome, I believe what they mean to say is to detach from the form of the outcome. For example, I may say that I want to get a job at X company. It's not necessarily X company that I really want but more what X company provides to me such as good pay, good opportunities and so on. By detaching from the form of the outcome and focussing on what I really want, I become open to other opporutinities that may be just as good and give me the same outcome. This way if an opportunity comes up at Y company that provides just as good pay, good opportunities and so on, I could actually achieve my true desires eventhough the form may not be in the original form that I thought. However, if I am attached to just X company, I may miss out on achieving what I really want.

In terms of relationships, when we say we want our ex back, what we really want is the feelings of love, connection, and everything else that we experienced with our ex. By detaching from the outcome, we open ourselves to the possibility that the universe will give us exactly what we want by way of our ex or by way of someone else.
