AugustLane Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 It's ALWAYS hard to say with sunglasses.. we ALL look better AND younger with sunglasses... take them off.. I'll tell you exactly how old you look.. Funny you say this! Just yesterday my bff said- to quote... "I saw this cute girl walking by yesterday and then she took off her sunglasses and I was like OMG she is sooo not cute!" This was from a female! I just thought it was funny and relevant to that remark.
Thornton Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Your days are numbered. You're 40, and may look 28 now, but soon your real age will catch up with you. What happens when you start to look your age and you're with some 20 something year old woman... and people start to think you two look ridiculous together Not necessarily true... my grandmother was 70 and still passed for being in her 50s. She only looked her age in the last few months when she was dying of cancer. And if he did start to look older than the 20-something girl he was dating, he would just get more kudos, because people would just say "Wow, how did that guy get that hot looking young chick?"
AugustLane Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Well here is my take. I am 32. For me, saying I look younger than I am is NOT bragging. I find it to be both a blessing and a curse. Some folks older than myself- usually 40+ like to speak to me as though I am a child or their child. Cute little pet names and all. I am in a position of authority where I work. When dealing with some older customers who are new to the place they will look for someone older to give them advice on a product- or look very surprised to find out I am the boss. I am the most knowledgeable person there next to the owner but am short and look young, so they tend to dismiss me at first. When out in public I get the same thing. If I am with my mom forget about it! I was trying some really nice dresses for a wedding I was attending. I took my mom along to get her opinion. The woman tending the fitting rooms was kind enough to let me know that they had more prom dresses upstairs! My mom laughed. I just said thanks. When I went back in to the fitting room the woman proceeded to ask her where I went to school. It is really flattering to know I look so young, but on the other side of the coin I am a grown woman and being spoken to like a young adult can be frustrating. I wouldn't change it because I know someday it will change and I will miss these days- but it would be nice to be spoken to as an equal- or grown up if you will- once and a while. I want to also add that genetics play a HUGE role! I both drink & smoke (bad, bad, bad I know) but I still look young. My mother taught me about moisturizer at the ripe young age of 12. I quoted my own response because it was at the bottom of a page and those get missed on a busy thread... just to point out proof of my 'youthful looks'
GorillaTheater Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 As you all can see from my profile pic, the years of debauchery, heroin and tequila have caused me to look a little older than 47. Don't let this happen to you.

Author MissJoness Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 If she looks 30 when she's 30, she'll look 40 when she's 40 and 50 when she's 50. Looking 30 wouldn't be so bad, but I'm not exactly keen to look like I'm 40 or 50. If I look younger than my age now, I'll probably continue to look younger than my age... yay me when I'm 40-something and can pass for being mid 30s! The other issue it that in modern society youth=attractiveness. What guy wouldn't want to have a younger (and more attractive) looking woman? Come to that, what woman wouldn't want to look younger and more attractive? Everyone, without exception, is flattered when someone thinks they look younger than they really are. People go through painful surgical procedures to make themselves look younger. My bf is 40 and he loves it when people assume he's about 30. My mother is a pensioner and she loves it when people react with shock because they think she's about 50. There's even a tv show called 10 Years Younger, dedicated to taking 10 years off someone's age through beauty treatments and new clothes. Pretty much everyone wants to look younger than they are, and they spend huge amounts of money to achieve that - so surely it's a good thing if you look younger without having to have surgery or something? You are supposed to look your age. And most people IMO, defintely do! So a woman, can't look 40, and still be attractive?
GorillaTheater Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Next time you take a picture, close your mouth to hide the lack of teeth and you'll drop a few years. I know. Being slack-jawed has been difficult to overcome.
Trialbyfire Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I know. Being slack-jawed has been difficult to overcome.IMO, it's better to be slack-jawed than lock-jawed. At least you can use a pulley system to chew, instead of subsisting on food that can come through a straw. JMO.
Thornton Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 You are supposed to look your age. And most people IMO, defintely do! So a woman, can't look 40, and still be attractive? I'm sure a woman can look 40 and be attractive. Indeed, some women look better at 40 than others do at 30, simply because they're more beautiful women. But the same woman will probably have looked more attractive at 30 or 25 than she does at 40. If youth didn't equate to beauty, people wouldn't spend so much money on facelifts and moisturising creams.
Isolde Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Angelina Jolie looks at least her age, if not two to three years older, and many still think she is the most beautiful woman alive. Kate Winslet also is famous for talking about her wrinkles, and she's just 33. I think if you are thin and have good features, fine lines don't really make that much of a difference. I think the problem is weight gain, massive fat loss from the face, and unhealthy looking skin.

You'reasian Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I notice alot of posters who are in their late 20s, early 30s are saying that they look much younger than they are; like around 18-25 yrs old. Some of it sounds like bragging. But really, what is wrong with looking like you're 30? Does a woman who is 30, and happens to look 30 a bad thing? I'm happy with a woman bringing her best self.
Trialbyfire Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Anyone can be attractive at any age, as long as they're not in denial and are trying too hard to look like a different age. Dress to suit your face and body. I do have to laugh at that ad for NY Fries. It shows a woman who looks like she's in her mid to late thirties in a skin tight leopard patterned body suit, until you look closely at her neck full of wattles and shriveled up hands full of liver spots and wrinkles. In other words, she's a woman in her fifties and sixties, trying to look decades younger with plastic and cosmetic surgery. As for Angelie Jolie, she's still a beautiful woman but has started to look older than her biological age.
MN randomguy Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Didn't read everyone's posts, but I look like I'm 12. Wspecially naked so there. Really though, there's a different mind set between 18-25 and women in their 30s. If you're 30 and you want to have normal kids, you need to find a husband and get to it. Everyone knows this. I'm 29, not opposed to marriage and want to have a family someday. If I saw two equally attractive women, one 25 the other 30, I'd prefer to meet the 25 y/o. Not that I'm not turned on by a 30 y/o. On the contrary, I've noticed women in their 30s more likely to talk dirty with the boys and be all eager, etc. Its that with the 25 y/o you're not pressed by biology. I'd also like to be married for a few years w/o kids ideally. If I met and married a 30 y/o woman... I wouldn't take that risk. Also, forgot to mention, if you're a guy just looking to have fun 25 y/o women are generally easier to manipulate and more open to that.
CaliGuy Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Ok there's a pic on my profile taken yesterday. If you think I look 40, OK, I'll buy that. Nobody who meets me in public would even guess close to 40. Make sure you open the picture cause the album cover distorts the photo. I'll leave it up for a few hours.

Caliguy, based on that picture, which I doubt is the best one of you, I'd place you at 35. In your avvy you look way younger, and FWIW, I think you also look better with dark hair.

I would guess you were in your late 30's early 40's. Just about your age. Makes me wonder how many people have been lying to me. (no offense)

You have to click 3 times to get the BIG photo I saw the big pic.. if you block the top half of your face.. and just look at the nose and mouth.. you look like in your 20s.. but your eyes give your age. (I would say 35-37).. but definitely NOT in your 20s.
