Author MissJoness Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 You don't want the truth, I'm sure, but I'll give it to you anyway. From a strictly biological standpoint, women want to look younger because men are attracted to younger women because youth correlates with fertility. At 30 you're reaching the edge of your fertility window and men are biologically geared to want someone younger who is more likely to give them healthy offspring. And this isn't just the case in "western society", and "the media" is not to blame. It's a worldwide truth as old as Homo Sapiens itself. Really? Men are thinking about children when looking at a hot woman?
Jersey Shortie Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 We live in a world of Peter Pans and Never Nevers. I don't really see men or women really wanting to be their own age. We all face a certain amount of fear and refusal to accept that we will not live forever. Use to be that aging was harder on women. I think we are seeing a big swing on aging being tough on men too. And to be honest, I think men are more affected negatively by their own aging them women are by theirs. I think women accept it more easily and understand there are stages to life. Men are staring to understand that they are no longer immune to aging. Biologically we are discovering everyday that men also have their own clocks ticking. So while I understand the male desire to point out women's biology, least us not forget men's. And each year after 30 a man also becomes reproductively less attractive. Lets also ad in the fact that women don't need rich older men any more to take care of them and women are choosing men more base don their looks now then ever. Absolutely. Little girls can't light a match to women in their thirties. Men just like to go after Lolitas because it makes them feel young and virile. Oh, did I forget to add foolish? Unless your Humbert Humbert, no one is going after "Loiltas".
Trialbyfire Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Most people look their age. Even in the best of circumstances, the most you can hide is 7 to 10 years. Someone saying they are 55 and look 35 is either blind or lying.Quoted for truth!! There's nothing wrong with looking your age. Having said that, I've had a baby face since I was a baby. It used to drive me mad as a teenager. Now I'm glad I have it.
Birdy Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Really? Men are thinking about children when looking at a hot woman? Of course not CONSCIOUSLY. But on a sunconscious level? Always. It's what's kept the human race alive all these millenia. Why do you think studies have shown that men are more attracted to women who are in the ovulation phase of their cycle? In fact, yet ANOTHER study shows that strippers who are ovulating make more money than those who are in some other stage of the cycle, and strippers on the Pill (who do not ovulate at all) make CONSIDERABLY less money that those using no birth control.
marlena Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Unless your Humbert Humbert, no one is going after "Loiltas". Oh, they are, they are. Since the dawn of time.

Yeah, I saw that episode of 20/20 too. Bahahahaha. Again, I repeat, men also are aging and women no longer have to settle for older mates. There are numerous findings on the male's aging body and contribuation to issues that arrise in their children. This starts about around the same time for women as it does for men. Once men hit 30, it's no longer as fastly uphill as some would like to pretend.
CaliGuy Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I'm saying, why do men want a 30 year old who looks 18? What's wrong with having a 30 year old who looks 30? If you are 30, and look it, does it mean you look old? I thought I explained this -- at least from my perspective. I DO look younger than my age. In fact, I am quite commonly "accused" of being 28. I'm 40. Why then would I want someone who looks much younger than their age? Because it LOOKS right. See, if you're 40 and you look like you're in your late 20s, when you date someone close to your age, she looks like a cougar. It doesn't look right. And yes, it's a blessing and a CURSE. It's a blessing because I am still attractive to people in a wide range. The curse is that, though you can date someone as young as 22 (and I have), they are not at the same maturity level. I don't want to date someone who is 40 who LOOKS 40. We'd look retarded together. I don't want to date someone 22 who ACTS 22 either. I'd rather have someone who looks younger than they are but ACTS their age. Which is right where I am at this point in my life. Make sense? Look at my avatar. Do I look 40 to you?

How many women call it foolish when a woman states her preference is for a tall protective man? Why is it men are often judged as "foolish" for listening to their primal urges but for women it's acceptable?

It's ALWAYS hard to say with sunglasses.. we ALL look better AND younger with sunglasses... take them off.. I'll tell you exactly how old you look..

LucreziaBorgia Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Do I look 40 to you? Heck no you don't look forty! I always assumed you were much younger than me!
Jersey Shortie Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 CaliGuy does look to be in his 20s. But seeing a more upclose picture would help. However, it's a little weird to base your reasoning that because you look younger that you can't date women your age. That sounds insecure on your part to be honest.

What happens when you start to look your age and you're with some 20 something year old woman... and people start to think you two look ridiculous together Well, considering I bust my tail at the gym, exercise regularly, take good care of myself, etc -- I'm sitting pretty. I'm going to be in good shape the rest of my life because I am determined to do so! And when my looks start to fade, that is where my exceptional charm and personality will make up the difference. And who said I was going to marry someone 20 years younger? LOL. I said LOOK, not BE

Lizzie60 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I was just going to say that. They say the eyes are what really gives away your age. I know.. this is too easy.. I look much much younger with my huge sunglasses..

LucreziaBorgia Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 My picture is in my profile. I think I look decent for 39. I could date men my age, but haven't really found any that I would want to be with that weren't already married/attached. My sleeping with attached people days are over. A lot of guys my age have let themselves go, or just haven't aged well. That doesn't mean I'm not looking though! I wouldn't rule out someone my age, but I also wouldn't rule out someone younger - and in the case of my last guy way younger.

But seeing a more upclose picture would help. However, it's a little weird to base your reasoning that because you look younger that you can't date women your age. That sounds insecure on your part to be honest. Let me explain. Women my age tend to look their age. They don't look 10-12 years younger than they are. When I try and date women my age, they think that they are either a cougar or worse, my MOM! Women my age have kids and don't want any. I want to start a family one day. That limits my possibilities. Looking younger than I am gives me a greater advantage than someone who looks their age (or older). I'm fine with someone in their early to mid 30s who takes care of herself and wants to start a family. The problem is, they get one look at me and think "this guy looks like he's in his 20s. None of my friends or family is going to like that!" So -- it's not just from my perspective. It's from theirs as well.

I know I'm extremely picky.. but for some reason.. most don't age well... I much prefer younger men..
Thornton Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I'm saying, why do men want a 30 year old who looks 18? What's wrong with having a 30 year old who looks 30? If you are 30, and look it, does it mean you look old? If she looks 30 when she's 30, she'll look 40 when she's 40 and 50 when she's 50. Looking 30 wouldn't be so bad, but I'm not exactly keen to look like I'm 40 or 50. If I look younger than my age now, I'll probably continue to look younger than my age... yay me when I'm 40-something and can pass for being mid 30s! The other issue it that in modern society youth=attractiveness. What guy wouldn't want to have a younger (and more attractive) looking woman? Come to that, what woman wouldn't want to look younger and more attractive? Everyone, without exception, is flattered when someone thinks they look younger than they really are. People go through painful surgical procedures to make themselves look younger. My bf is 40 and he loves it when people assume he's about 30. My mother is a pensioner and she loves it when people react with shock because they think she's about 50. There's even a tv show called 10 Years Younger, dedicated to taking 10 years off someone's age through beauty treatments and new clothes. Pretty much everyone wants to look younger than they are, and they spend huge amounts of money to achieve that - so surely it's a good thing if you look younger without having to have surgery or something?

And I say this: If you can get someone younger, GO FOR IT. Who is the "world" to tell you that it's wrong or you shouldn't do it?! Most of the time, people who complain about age differences are people who can't do it themselves
Lizzie60 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 My son in law just turned 40 ... he looks really good.. and much much younger.. and he's told all the time.. he looks about 30-33...
Chicago_Guy Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I find that women who smoke and drink age much much faster... and the ones who get tanned continuously... they get that leather skin.. ewwwww... and they say they look younger.. I agree with you. People who drink a lot and also tan can easily look 10 years older than they are by their early 30s.
Citizen Drawn Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Not quite sure these are primal urges. If they were, why doesn't everybody have them? Not all 50 year old men want a 20 year old girl and not all women want a tall, protective man. Well I'm not going to disagree with you there. However if you look at the thread on here entitled "ladies what height do you prefer" then you see numerous posts from below average height women wanting their men rather tall and a lot of whooping and giggling, followed by some agreement as to this being a primal urge for height and protection. Now if this is wholly acceptable, then I think it should be wholly acceptable for 40 year old men to have a preference for nubile 18 year old women without anyone batting so much as an eyelid.
