Jersey Shortie Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 They can be such little hussies falshing their tails and stuff! Running all around town and right infront of cars making my man slam on his breaks and stare.
sally4sara Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Do you mean squirrels? If so, I bet they think they're tasty. Cause they are - tasty.

GorillaTheater Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Can't eat squirrel. Things look just like rats when they're dressed out.
sally4sara Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 What do they taste like? (as if this wasn't the easiest set-up line in history...) Similar to game bird but the texture is more like red meat.
sally4sara Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Can't eat squirrel. Things look just like rats when they're dressed out. I haven't tried it; if it smelled good cooking, I would eat it.
Citizen Drawn Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Similar to game bird but the texture is more like red meat. I was about to say like duck, but a bit meatier Fresher too if you snare them in the back yard
sally4sara Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I was about to say like duck, but a bit meatier Fresher too if you snare them in the back yard No need to worry about "organic" standards or hormone treatments......
Citizen Drawn Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 No need to worry about "organic" standards or hormone treatments...... Yep and the little critters get to run around free range rather than being cooped up - I wouldn't be surprised if squirrel numbers go down during all this economic turmoil, you can get good money selling them fresh to restaurants.
boogieboy Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Similar to game bird but the texture is more like red meat. Someone has been readin the Ted Nugent cookbook.
sally4sara Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Someone has been readin the Ted Nugent cookbook. Never read it, but I'll bet there is a few good recipes. Even maybe for rat?
Trimmer Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Tasty??? 5 squirrel to a crockpot, generous with the gravy and some buttermilk biscuits! I'm so not kidding. Yeah, in the older editions of the Joy of Cooking (say more than 15 or 20 years ago) they alwasy had a section on how to skin a squirrel for cooking. What do they taste like? (as if this wasn't the easiest set-up line in history...) Correct answer: Tastes like chicken!!!!!
Author Jersey Shortie Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 This brings back memories of my old boss from high school and early college that use to actually skin deer that her husband had gone out and killed. What a woman. Now that is love.
WineCountry Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 My mother feeds the squirrels. They come right up to her and take peanuts out of her hand.......... They go to her back door and stick their little paws under the screen door and pull on it so my mom will hear them and come out and feed them. Once, when my mom was sitting on the front porch, one jumped up in her lap and ate the peanut while sitting there. All this is the honest truth. And y'all are talking about eating them with biscuits and gravy?? Any fool knows that you need mashed potatoes with that gravy, not biscuits. Are you people savages or what??
boogieboy Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Never read it, but I'll bet there is a few good recipes. Even maybe for rat? I heard a good chef cooked a NYC rat for a radio show. It was well spiced, and people went back for seconds.
Soul Bear Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I cant stand those noisy, self obsessed, tail flashing, 'oh look at me' squirrels.... There are other animals out there
Author Jersey Shortie Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 Are you people savages or what?? I'm savagely delicious.
quankanne Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Any fool knows that you need mashed potatoes with that gravy, not biscuits. Are you people savages or what?? it's TATERS and gravy, not POTATOES with gravy! ditch the biscuits and taters, though – cornbread and chicken, baby! Now THAT'S living! *note to self: cornbread and pintos for dinner tonight*
