Wilco - One Wing

We once belonged to a bird

We cast a shadow on this world

You were a blessing, and I was a curse

I did my best not to make things worse

For you

That isn't true

I always knew this would be our fate

This is what happens when wings separate

This happens to all dead weight

Eventually

We may as well be made of stone

We can't be flown

One wing will never fly

Neither yours nor mine, I fear

We can only wave goodbye

One wing will never ever fly

Neither yours nor mine

One wing will never ever fly, dear

Neither yours nor mine, I fear

We can only wave goodbye

One wing will never ever fly, dear

Neither yours nor mine, I fear

We can only wave goodbye

Bye, bye

Bye, bye

Bye, bye

Bye, bye

I sometimes wonder which songs are helping or hurting. It's hard to find the balance sometimes.

Anyways, I've been really into Ryan Adams too lately. Although, I can't listen to his cover of "Wonderwall," as that was sort of our song. His first disc, "Heartbreaker" is quite good.

Hayden, Matthew Good, She & Him, Our Lady Peace, Beck's "Sea Change".

Those have all been in heavy rotation for me.

kelly clarkson- never again, behind these hazel eyes, dont waste my time

It's over, it's over, it's over:

It seems you can't hear me

When I open my mouth you never listen

You say stay, but what does that mean

Do you think I honestly want to be reminded forever

Don't waste your time trying to fix

What I want to erase

What I need to forget

Don't waste your time on me my friend

Friend, what does that even mean

I don't want your hand

You'll only pull me down

So save your breath

Don't waste your song

On me, on me

Don't waste your time

It's not easy not answering

Every time I want to talk to you

But I can't

If you only knew the hell I put myself through

Replaying memories in my head of you and I

Every night

Don't waste your time trying to fix

What I want to erase

What I need to forget

Don't waste your time on me my friend

Friend, what does that even mean

I don't want your hand

You'll only pull me down

So save your breath

Don't waste your song

On me, on me

Don't waste your time

You're callin'

You're talkin'

You're tryin'

Tryin' to get in

But it's over, it's over, it's over

Friend

Don't waste your time trying to fix it

So save your breath, don't waste your song

On me, on me

Don't waste your time

You held me

You felt me

You left me

But it's over, it's over, it's over

You touched me

You had me

But it's over, it's over, it's over my friend

Don't waste my time

Don Henley- The heart of the matter

music is beautiful; even with out knowing each other, it connects us. it gives us comfort in knowing that we will never truly be alone, as long as we have it.

that said, the song that most resonates with me during difficult times is Under the Bridge by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. the line "i don't ever want to feel like i did that day" reminds me of the my darkest night; the night when i felt that the love that used to run through my veins was oozing out of my wrists, leaving me lifeless.

sure, there are many, many difficult nights that we go through following a breakup, but i think that we can all look back to a certain time when the oxygen we were breathing was the only venom keeping us a life. that night--that is such a horrible night. and the truth is, we don't ever want to feel like we did that night.
