moo Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I live in a very small town where it is hard to meet people, esp. people my age. I've done the internet dating service thing. Of course everyone is an individual, but I can't help but notice that every potential date or boyfriend that I have met online has either been strange, secretive, selfish, immature or controlling or all those combined. I met my ex on the internet...enough said about that, since I talk about him all the time. Another story: I once met this man online who was very interested in me. However, he was married. He and his wife lived on opposite sides of the state. For holidays and other family gatherings he and his wife would attend together and pretend to be married to please his mother. He told me he could not get a divorce until his mother passed away. It's not like she was very sick or anything like that. I told him I could not date him. I did not want to be his dirty little secret. What a moron. I met another man who told me he had a rash from his head to his groin area. He told me how disgusted he was that his date was overweight. I told him I was overweight as well and he demanded to know how much I weighed and acted as if I was playing tricks on him. I told him I would not date him either. For those of you who have been in ridiculous, weird, stupid, or just plain bad relationships, how many of you met them online? What's your story?
NightLord1 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Being a single dad and owning my own business I don't have much time to get out to the bars and other places to meet women so myspace and the net have been my dating pool for years. I've met a lot people online both good and bad. I had one relationship last over a year and half another lasted six months and another lasted eight months. Fact is you can meet weird, strange, annoying, stupid, and just plain out there people WHEREVER you go. Everyone person is a bit strange and different its just a matter of how much and if you can deal with the quirks. I find that people I meet out in real the world on a daily basis are just as weird as people from the net. Granted a lot of people like to have this whole fantasy world they live in when they are online and they turn out to be completely different in person but really it doesn't matter if its on or off line all people are strange.
Thornton Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 One guy described himself physically as "enlarged ribcage, split nipples... the lot!" Funnily enough this did not endear me to him
Author moo Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 huhhhjhjhjkhh. Lsb, what happened to the post you had before in this thread?
inaperfectworld Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Wow, those mean are crazy. But you are bound to find psychos online. But thankfully I havent had any crazy stories to tell, but just a lot of stalkers online and online predators.
Thaddeus Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Online dating is just a reflection of real-life dating. I honestly don't think the numbers of weirdos or creeps is any higher in the online dating pool, it's just that because it's relatively anonymous it's talked about more often. The vast, vast majority of the women I met while doing the online dating thing were wonderful, attractive and successful people. There were a couple, however, that didn't quite so well. Just one story: We exchanged a few emails and decided to meet for a nice dinner at a steak house not far from my home. Things seemed to be progressing well until she started asking me about my finances. The question that put the final nail in the coffin was, verbatim, "So, how much DO you make, anyway?" Funny thing is that she didn't actually have GOLD-DIGGER tattooed on her forehead. Needless to say, I chose not to see her again despite her somewhat insistent emails.
2sure Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 During our first date he asked me ifhad a purse big enough to sneak beer and snacks into a theater. I said No.
