I'm very curious to know the turn out.

Yes, I'm pretty curious myself, hopefully Exiled can post the outcome of this situation in the future.

How about Exiled arrange a webcam for his ex and gf so they can meet? If it's a possibility

I may have misread but it seems as they may not have a chance to meet otherwise. The ex leaving in a week and the current not coming home for a couple weeks.

Remember Exiled, whatever you tell your gf, she will multiply it by 60 in her mind. So make sure you tread lightly. Her perception of your relationship with your ex could possibly be blown out of proportion. Be careful.

im not sure because whenever i hang out with my friends(girls included) she doesnt ask or care about it, same when she hangs out with her friends, but because its my ex i feel like its not something i can treat just like any old friend as she may wander to conclusions, if i had to tell her i would have no problem doing so

also thanks for everyones responses, however i feel like some of you guys arent grasping the point that she is still someone whos been there for me in the past when i needed someone, it just so happened that shes my ex and I feel like if I were to just push her off i'd be like pushing off one of my good guy friends, no difference, for my girlfriend. Not saying that i don't like my girlfriend more than anything in the world, but im sure u understand...

and i can assure you guys that im 100% faithful to my girlfriend, sure sometimes i want to get her jealous, but never to an crazy extent as to hangout with my ex just to get on her and make her jealous

Uh, no, it is NOT just like pushing off one of your good guy friends. Do you make out with your good guy friends? Did you have sexual feelings for your guy friends? No? Then obviously it is NOT the same thing.

If you really love and care for your current girlfriend, you will not only tell her you saw your ex, but you will STOP seeing your ex.

Why can't people get it that you BREAK UP for a reason!

If thats the absolute way to not hurt my gf than ill probably resort to that, but my ex is going away to study over seas(year+) personally i feel like crap to not even give her a formal good bye.

Why? You hadn't seen her for years already I thought. What, you need one last fling before she leaves?

At least, by being honest and transparent, he can ensure any "blowing out of proportion" that might happen will be HER doing and not something he caused by being shady (seeming). It is also an extreme sign of disrespect when one partner decides for the other - what they need to know and how they will react without their input. I assume he is dating the girl and not raising her like she is his daughter - right?

*I appologize, I haven't read your thread from beginning to end*

It's a tough call I think. If I had an ex, who also happens to be a childhood friend, and a current good friend, it would be hard for me to push him aside for a new partner. Especially if that person has been there for me through thick and thin. I think I understand where you're coming from. There is a bond there between you and her, not a romantic one, but one of friendship. And I think good stable friendships are hard to come by as well.

It sounds to me like your gf and you are new? It would be a shame to break your friendship with your ex, only to have a failed relationship down the road. But it would also be a shame to keep your friendship and ruin a potentially awesome relationship?

But I do think that both your friend and your ex ought to be informed of your status, if you want to have both of them in your life. Tell your friend that you're in a relationship (and if she's a truly good friend, she'll understand if you can't hang out all the time). And when your gf comes back tell her that you hang out with your ex and explain to her what you feel and what you're thinking.
