I am a woman in my 30s who is otherwise attractive but I have a dark secret: I have a colostomy bag. Nobody would know when I am dressed and I have never had a relationship. What would you think really if you met someone who you thought was normal and then discovered she had a colostomy would it put you off her?

Arlene,

I think it would depend on the individual, and the level of your general relationship by the time he finds out. If there is genuine interest and caring, a mature person would take it in stride.

It's that you have a health condition that requires you to use a colostomy bag. Some people use dentures or hair pieces. In a mature, real relationship, such things aren't seen as a challenge or "dark secret"...they are embraced as just another part of the whole.

When you discern that there is real potential for a long-term relationship, I'd suggest that you could share your medical history at that time.

Some people would get turned off, I have no doubt. But I can't imagine that you'd want those types in your life, anyway.

Wishing you many good dating experiences, and happy long-term relationships :)

I agree that it would depend on when you disclosed this information. We all have our stuff. This is obviously not first date materiel, but if you find the right guy, and it is time to be intimate, I think if he is really into you he will take it in stride.
