Was talking to someone about this today. My best friend (woman) mutually ended it with her college sweetheart of 3 years. She's moving away for grad school but has been dating a great guy for 3 weeks that she really likes.

Do women usually miss the ex (even though they think they are over them) or the rebound....when they are finally alone?

Depends on how deep is her love for her ex. You'll soon discover that since women tend to discuss who they miss more and if she mentioned that guy's name more so then the other, then you have your answer.

they usually find a distraction to get over the ex, but usually they are quite over the ex before they even leave. unless they area a quality person, they stick around and screw with the ex's minds until they seem weak. this reinforces the reason to leave.

Ok Bolso, I won't blow your cover here ;). If a woman is on the rebound, yes she still misses her ex. Even if it's a really great guy; if she is still in love with the old guy, she will still think about him. In fact, oddly enough? Having someone new in your life is more likely to stir up feelings about the ex rather than help you forget them. So why people hurt an innocent person to relieve their pain, when it actually works backwards instead? I don't know. I never reccomend rebound dating. Not only does it cause more pain for the person trying to get past a break up, it isn't giving a fair chance to the person good enough to invest themselves in you. It's not a good way to treat people.
